Job Overview

We are seeking a strategic and operationally-focused CFO to steer the financial future of our physician-owned multispecialty group. As a vital partner to the CEO and Board of Directors, you will drive long-term fiscal health while ensuring our business strategies deliver exceptional patient service at peak efficiency. You will act as a bridge between clinical excellence and financial sustainability, managing our relationships with lending institutions, payers, and the broader financial community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Partner with the CEO, COO, and Board to develop and execute a financial roadmap that supports independent growth and owner value.
  • Physician Advisory: Provide professional counsel and meaningful analysis to physician owners, translating complex data into clear insights for informed decision-making.
  • Operational Oversight: Direct all functions of Finance, Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), Purchasing, and Inventory. Build high-performing teams and a robust infrastructure within these departments.
  • Financial Integrity: Oversee budgeting, audits, tax, and long-range forecasting. Implement rigorous internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and healthcare-specific fiscal regulations.
  • Payer & Revenue Strategy: Monitor RCM performance for optimization. Evaluate and navigate evolving payment models (ACO, Medical Home, gain sharing) and lead key payer contracting efforts.
  • Growth & Analysis: Collaborate with the Chief Strategy Officer to conduct financial due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and new service line developments.
  • Risk & Reporting: Manage insurance activities and banking relationships. Provide the Board with transparent reporting on liquidity, stability, and covenant compliance.

Essential Knowledge & Skills

  • Healthcare Finance Mastery: Expert knowledge of clinic budgetary practices, RVUs, CPT/ICD-10 coding impacts, and government reimbursement (Medicare/Medicaid).
  • Clinical Collaboration: Proven ability to build trust with medical staff to improve operations without compromising care quality.
  • Analytical Vision: Skill in resolving complex financial problems and turning fragmented data into centralized, automated dashboards.
  • Governance & Ethics: Deep understanding of healthcare fiscal regulations and the discretion required to work within a physician-led leadership structure.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration (MBA/MHA) required.
  • Certification: CPA highly preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years of healthcare financial leadership; direct experience as a CFO in a medical group practice is a significant advantage.
  • Technical Savvy: Expert-level proficiency with EHRs, Practice Management software, and advanced financial modeling.
  • Data Savvy: Proven ability to leverage large data sets, financial databases, and business intelligence tools to identify trends, drive operational improvements, and inform executive-level decisions.
