Job Summary:

The Belt Technician is responsible for installing, repairing, splicing, and maintaining conveyor belting systems at customer locations and within the shop. This position performs belt fabrication, vulcanizing, pulley lagging, and related services while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. The Belt Technician professionally represents Baldwin Supply in the field and helps deliver solutions that create value for our customers

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Job Responsibilities:

  •   Install, splice, repair, and replace conveyor belting systems. 
  •   Perform vulcanizing, pulley lagging, belt fabrication, and related conveyor services. 
  •   Rig, cut, and position conveyor belt materials using appropriate equipment and methods. 
  •   Operate winches, vulcanizers, forklifts, and other equipment safely and effectively. 
  •   Use hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment to cut, shape, splice, and fit conveyor belt materials. 
  •   Prepare and apply adhesives, glues, and bonding cements. 
  •   Inspect work products and installations to ensure compliance with quality standards and customer specifications. 
  •   Complete required paperwork, work orders, and service documentation accurately. 
  •   Follow all company, customer, and regulatory safety requirements. 
  •   Maintain professional communication with customers and coworkers. 
  •   Work overtime, weekends, and varying shifts as required to meet customer needs. 
  •   Drive company vehicles and equipment safely. 
  •   Perform additional duties as assigned.


Requirements:

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  •  High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  •   Prior experience in conveyor belting, industrial maintenance, mechanical repair, construction, mining, manufacturing, or a related field preferred. 
  •   Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required. 
  •   Ability to read and write English and follow verbal and written instructions. 
  •   Basic mathematical skills required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  •   Mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with hand and power tools. 
  •   Ability to read, interpret, and complete work orders accurately. 
  •   Ability to take accurate measurements and perform calculations. 
  •   Knowledge of basic inventory and quantity calculations. 
  •   Ability to convert millimeters to inches and work with fractional measurements. 
  •   Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. 
  •   Excellent customer service skills and responsiveness to customer needs. 
  •   Ability to communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing. 
  •   Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  •   Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. 
  •   Commitment to workplace safety

Physical Requirements / Work Conditions:

  •   Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, reach, push, pull, and climb. 
  •   Regular use of hands and fingers requiring strength, coordination, and precision. 
  •   Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally. 
  •   Ability to work at customer facilities, industrial plants, warehouses, mines, and manufacturing environments. 
  •   Exposure to noise, dust, odors, oils, grease, vibrations, and various weather conditions. 
  •   Work in hot, cold, wet, and humid environments. 
  •   Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, hard hats, gloves, hearing protection, and other safety equipment as required. 
  •   Ability to safely operate company vehicles, forklifts, and equipment.
