Job description

Position Summary

Rotatek is seeking an experienced Vibration & Balancing Engineer to join our growing field engineering team. The successful candidate will perform vibration diagnostics, field balancing, machinery troubleshooting, and rotating equipment condition assessments at customer facilities throughout North America.


This position requires significant travel and offers the opportunity to work on some of the largest and most technically challenging rotating equipment installations in the industry.


Responsibilities

  • Perform vibration data collection and analysis on rotating equipment.
  • Diagnose machinery faults including imbalance, misalignment, looseness, bearing defects, resonance, and mechanical or electrical issues.
  • Perform single- and two-plane field balancing of rotating equipment.
  • Prepare professional field reports documenting findings and recommendations.
  • Communicate directly with customer maintenance, engineering, and management personnel.
  • Maintain calibration and care of company instrumentation.
  • Follow all customer and company safety procedures.


Required Qualifications

  • ISO 18436-2 Vibration Analyst Category I certification (minimum).
  • 3+ years of experience performing machinery vibration analysis.
  • Experience performing field balancing.
  • Experience with rotating industrial equipment.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to analyze FFT spectra, time waveforms, phase data, and bearing fault frequencies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver's license and passport (or ability to obtain one).
  • Ability to travel approximately 50–70% throughout North America.
  • Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 60 pounds.


Preferred Qualifications

  • ISO 18436-2 Category II or III certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Experience with PRÜFTECHNIK VibXpert, Emerson CSI, SKF, or similar vibration analysis systems.
  • Familiarity with laser tracker metrology systems is a plus.
