Job description

Position Purpose

A subject area expert in billing and contractual research compliance, this position works closely with Renown Health departments, academic relationships, and community partners throughout the study lifecycle. The position is responsible for research budget development in accordance with coverage analysis, for budget and sponsor billing maintenance, research analytics related to revenue performance, and for monthly reconciliations and monitoring of research revenue and expenses, internal and external to Renown Health.

Nature and Scope

Reporting to Department leadership, this position is meticulous and focuses on research study and research award stakeholders in Renown to analysis, bill, reconcile and budget third party activities contracts associated with research activities throughout the organization. The position requires a substantial working knowledge of institutional requirements aligned to federal regulation in financial compliance and reporting in research efforts. The position is responsible for:

1. Performs all research related accounting and financial reporting for Renown Health

2. Assists with research contract negotiation and compliance

3. Performs budget negotiations and ensures compliance and accountability to sponsor and patient/insurance billing.

4. Reviews and makes recommendations for adjustments in budgeting and processes to align with industry standards and trends.

5. Financial transactions, reporting and reconciliation of research related contracts within the clinical trials management system.

6. Coordination with study coordinators and familiarity with basic science and medical disciplines as well as fundamental knowledge of hospital and research functions

7. Working knowledge of medical and legal terminology of procedures, HIPAA and privacy requirements and individual study and award contractual conditions

8. Provides data to support billing audits and queries [internal and external (sponsor, FDA, etc.)] and assists with resolution of any findings

9. Maintain highest standard for confidentiality and professionalism as it relates to patient privacy and sponsor protocol agreements.

2. Ability to manage change and to obtain operational results with minimal disruptions through innovative and creative means.

3. Analytical and organized with attention to detail and accuracy and a strong ability to effectively prioritize.

4. Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills to identify problems, issues, errors and determine whether causes are of system, procedural and/or clerical in nature; ability to make recommendations for quality improvement and/or change management.

5. Flexibility to adjust to a wide variety of content and stakeholders.
