Job description

Grocery Cart Attendant Part Time Dierbergs Markets

Grocery Cart Attendants are helpful and on-the-go, assisting cashiers with loading carts, and helping the store run smoothly.  They are important in making a first (and lasting) customer experience with a variety of responsibilities:

  • Retrieve carts from the parking lot using a cart strap and safety vest
  • Offer to carry out and load purchases into customers' vehicles
  • Pick up and dispose of debris from the carts, floor and parking lot
  • Distribute hand baskets around the store
  • Put misplaced or returned items in their proper locations
  • Assist in maintaining aisle conditions
  • Help to keep check lanes organized and stocked with essentials, such as paper and plastic bags
  • Sweep and mop floors when maintenance is not available
  • Assist Cashiers with change requests, cash "turn ins" to the Guest Services, and obtaining additional items
  • Obtain and load the carpet cleaning rental machine into customer's car
  • Maintain quality of customer's items by loading purchases into carts and ensuring use of proper bagging techniques
  • Stock advertisements
What you need to succeed
  • At least 16 years of age
  • Physical stamina to lift up to 30 pounds, retrieve carts from outside and load groceries in to customers carts
  • Ability to work outside in varying weather conditions
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule that includes weekends and holidays
  • Prompt and regular attendance based on your schedule
  • Adherence to our dress code, appearance and personal hygiene standards
  • Must be able to tolerate environmental changes and exposure to hot and cold temperatures caused by frequent trips to the parking lot to service customers and retrieve carts under varying weather conditions
Physical Requirements
  • Pushing & Pulling- up to 30 lbs. of force frequently
  • Lifting - up to 40lbs.
  • Work actions include standing, walking, bending, reaching, and squatting
