SUMMARY

This position will provide prompt, friendly, reliable service, and assistance to customers at the check stand, creating a unique and satisfying shopping experience that will exceed their expectations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

o Performs duties in a safe and efficient manner, consistent with store’s safety policies and procedures.

o Recognizes and follows all cashier policies and procedures.

o Reports promptly to workstation at beginning of shift and following lunch and break.

o Operates cash register to itemize and total customer’s purchases.

o Reviews price sheets to note price changes and sale items.

o Acknowledges, greets, and projects a positive attitude, and thanks each customer.

o Handles groceries with extreme care, quickly separates and groups like items.

o Has competency in all aspects of bagging.

o Collects cash, check, or charge payment from customer and tenders accurate change in accordance with store policy and procedures.

o Handles damaged or spoiled products and return-to-stock (“go-backs”) according to front-end and store procedures.

o Performs price checks as needed.

o Effectively handles customer complaints and contacts a manager when necessary.

o Assists with cleanup of spills, breakages, and other maintenance duties at the checkstand area.

o Participates in training activities to increase personal skill levels and improve overall department processes and customer service.

o Maintains an organized and clean work area, cleans belt and register regularly.

o Performs other duties as assigned by the department head or other management personnel.

o Meets the physical requirements to perform the job functions listed above.

o Provides light supervision and training of other associates when assigned.

o Performs ID checks when ringing alcoholic beverages and cigarettes.
