Staff Accountant
SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant is responsible for managing all accounts receivable and accounts payable. This role assists the Controller in directing the financial activities of the hotel, safeguarding the assets, and preparing all financial reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and hotels' standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Job duties include; although are not limited to:
  • Overseeing day-to-day finance operations
  • Assisting with account collections and account aging
  • Monitoring and managing relationships with vendors
  • Handling all vendor inquiries and reconciling vendor statements
  • Managing all client inquiry/requests for financial information
  • Researching and resolving guest bill inquiries
  • Managing group clients from a financial standpoint from inception to completion of program
  • Working with hotel accounting systems including Opera, Great Plains, and Micros
  • Preparing and posting month-end closing entries
  • Producing and distributing monthly financial packets
  • Performing balance sheet reconciliations
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual taxes
  • Processing all approved invoices for payment, ensuring that all appropriate signatures and back-up are included
  • Sorting and verifying accuracy of Night Audit work, including reconciliation of banquet check extensions, coding of banquets at cost, reviewing and routing sales and promotion checks with back-up

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Previous experience in finance required
  • Previous experience with Opera preferred
  • A minimum of two (2) years' experience in customer service
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Strong analytical skills required
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems. Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 8 hours a day. Walking and standing are occasionally required. Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis. This position requires manual dexterity, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity.
