Join the Backpack Brigade Board

Why Serve?

Serving on the Backpack Brigade Board gives you the opportunity to make a meaningful difference for students in King County who experience weekend hunger. Board members play an important role in guiding the organization’s strategy, strengthening community partnerships, and ensuring Backpack Brigade has the resources needed to grow its impact.

It’s also a chance to work alongside a thoughtful and committed group of community leaders who care deeply about ensuring every child has reliable access to food.

What We Look for in Board Members

Board members share a commitment to ending student weekend hunger in King County. We seek individuals whose experience and perspective can help advance our mission.

Ideal candidates may bring experience in areas such as:

    • Hunger relief or food insecurity
    • Nonprofit governance or board leadership
    • Donor development and fundraising
    • Capital campaigns
    • Financial or business expertise
    • Marketing, operations, or community partnerships

Just as important as professional experience is a willingness to engage with the mission and contribute actively to the board’s work. We especially welcome candidates who reflect the communities we serve and bring diverse perspectives, professional backgrounds, and lived experiences.
