Source One is a consulting services company and we’re currently looking for the following individual to work as a consultant to one of the world's leading bike-share platform providers in Longueuil, Quebec.

Title: Backend Software Engineer (Contract)

Hybrid: Onsite Monday, Wednesday & Thursday

Pay: CAD $107.80/hour + benefits

Duration: 4-Month Contract (Potential Extension)


About the Opportunity: This is an exciting opportunity to build scalable backend services that support millions of riders and B2B customers across more than 40 global markets. You'll work alongside product managers, software engineers, and technical account teams to design and develop reliable cloud-based services that power modern urban mobility solutions.


What You'll Do:

- Design, develop, and implement backend features based on customer and business requirements.

- Build scalable, reliable, maintainable, and well-tested backend services.

- Integrate legacy systems with modern cloud-native services to improve platform performance and scalability.

- Translate product requirements into technical designs and implementation plans.

- Collaborate closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Technical Account Management teams.

- Maintain and enhance existing services to ensure platform stability and reliability.

- Monitor production systems, troubleshoot issues, and implement long-term improvements.

- Support the continued evolution of a global SaaS platform serving customers in 40+ markets.


Required Qualifications:

- 3+ years of professional backend software development experience.

- Strong programming skills in Java and Python.

- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles.

- Experience working with MySQL or other relational databases.

- Experience building and supporting cloud-native applications on AWS.

- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

- Experience using monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog (or similar platforms).

- Strong troubleshooting and production support skills.

- Excellent collaboration and communication skills in cross-functional environments.
