Job Description The ideal candidate is an experienced backend developer with strong Java and Python skills who enjoys building scalable, cloud-based applications. They thrive in a collaborative environment, write clean, maintainable code, and are passionate about delivering reliable software that supports customers around the world. As a Backend Software Engineer, you will: Design, develop, and implement new backend features based on customer and business requirements.

Build reliable, efficient, maintainable, and well-tested code. Integrate existing systems with modern services to improve platform performance, scalability, and maintainability. Translate product requirements into technical solutions and implementation plans.

Collaborate closely with engineering, product management, technical account managers, and other cross-functional stakeholders. Maintain and enhance existing services to ensure platform stability and reliability. Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

Support the ongoing evolution of a large-scale SaaS platform serving customers across multiple global markets. Preferred Experience: 3+ years of experience as a backend developer, ideally working with a large system Experience with distributed systems or large-scale data applications is a plus. Daily tasks Responsibilities: Feature Development: Collaborate with product management, account management and engineering teams to design and implement new, exciting features based on customer demands.

Your code is reliable, efficient, maintainable, and well tested. System Integration: Integrate critical existing systems with modern components to enhance performance, maintainability, and lead towards our goal of building the world's top SaaS bikeshare platform. Technical Specifications: Translate product requirements into detailed technical specifications and actionable plans.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineers across different teams, technical account managers and product management. Be clear and transparent with your stakeholders and partners. Maintenance & Improvement: Maintain existing functionality to ensure stability and reliability across deployments; identify areas We're seeking talented contractors to help us build a world where cities feel small again - where transportation and tech bring people together.

Required Skills: Proficiency in Java and Python with a solid foundation in object-oriented programming. Strong experience with MySQL or other RDBMS'. Familiarity with AWS and infra-as-code for deploying and maintaining could-native applications Knowledge of DataDog or similar observability tools for monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting.

Ability to troubleshoot, analyze, mitigate, and resolve production issues quickly, transparently, and effectively. Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work in a cross-functional environment
