Who You Are
You're a senior engineer who is just as comfortable in a conference room as you are in a codebase. You can sit across from a CEO, COO, or CFO, understand their business, and translate a vague "we should do something with AI" into a concrete, sequenced plan that creates measurable value - and then go build it.
You have a strong technical foundation: a history of shipping real software (frontend, backend, or full stack) using databases, message queues, APIs, and cloud infrastructure. You've also leaned hard into modern AI tooling - you use LLMs and agentic coding tools daily to compress what used to take weeks into days, and you can tell the difference between a flashy demo and something that will actually hold up in production.
You can read a room and a requirements doc with equal skill. You explain technical tradeoffs to non-technical executives without condescension, and you're energized - not drained - by client interaction. You can operate autonomously, drive ambiguous work to a decision, and you can also slot cleanly into a sprint team on a long-lived project and follow its rhythms.
You have a powerful desire to learn and a low tolerance for hype. You're available to support production environments when they have issues, even at odd hours if necessary.
The Role
This is a dual-mode role, and that's the point. On any given week you might be:
  • In "forward-deployed" mode - embedded with multiple AI Office clients, scoping opportunities, advising leadership, and rapidly building AI-powered tools (copilots, automations, integrations, reporting workflows) that deliver value in days or weeks, not quarters.
  • In "traditional delivery" mode - contributing as a senior developer on a legacy or long-running project that follows conventional sprints and a full software development lifecycle: architecture, estimation, code review, and steady, durable engineering.

We're technology-agnostic and outcome-obsessed. For each engagement we pick the best tools for the job, and we expect you to do the same - including knowing when not to use AI. Your clients will rely on you to solve their most complex challenges and deliver results they can point to.
What You'll Do
Consult & advise (client-facing)
  • Meet with clients in person and remotely to understand their business, operations, and goals - then identify the highest-value AI and automation opportunities (we target at least 3X ROI).
  • Translate business problems into technical plans, and technical tradeoffs into language executives can act on.
  • Participate in scoping, prioritization, and roadmap sessions; help shape AI Sprints (fixed-fee, 2-10 weeks) and longer engagements.
  • Build trust as the senior person in the room and keep delivery tied tightly to client needs.

Build fast with AI
  • Use LLMs and agentic coding tools to deliver quick-turnaround, value-additive work: copilots, internal AI tools, document and email automation, retrieval/RAG systems, data and reporting integrations, and pricing or workflow assistants.
  • Ship working solutions - not demos - with appropriate documentation, testing, and a clean handoff.
  • Integrate AI into a client's existing systems and data without breaking what already works.

Enable & teach
  • Coach client teams and leaders on how to use existing LLM tools (Claude, ChatGPT, and others) effectively and responsibly in their day-to-day work.
  • Help clients build the habits, guardrails, and adoption that make AI stick after we leave the room.

Deliver on traditional & legacy projects
  • Develop custom software and complex features; assist in the design and review of architecture on both new and existing systems.
  • Break work into assignable items, estimate effort and schedule, and operate within established sprint and SDLC processes.
  • Investigate customer issues, perform debugging by reviewing configuration files, logs, and code, and recommend practical fixes.
  • Support deployments to cloud environments, including monitoring and maintenance.

Lead & mentor
  • Review team members' work via pull/merge requests and give constructive feedback.
  • Develop junior engineers' ability to work through problems, interact with clients, and design practical solutions.
  • Create design documents, architectural diagrams, and key project artifacts to support onboarding and delivery.
  • Meet with operations leaders to discuss project goals, solution quality, schedule, progress, and the overall client relationship.

What We're Looking For
Required
  • Senior-level experience building and shipping software (frontend, backend, or full stack), including databases, APIs, and cloud deployment on AWS and/or Azure.
  • Demonstrated, hands-on use of LLMs and AI coding tools to deliver real work - not just experimentation.
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills; comfort presenting to and advising business and executive stakeholders.
  • A consultative, business-first mindset: you start from the outcome and work back to the technology.
  • Ability to work effectively both autonomously and within a structured team and sprint process.
  • Familiarity with Linux and Windows systems and the deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of applications.

Nice to have
  • Prior experience in consulting, professional services, or a forward-deployed / solutions-engineering role.
  • Experience building production AI features: prompt engineering, RAG, evaluations, agents, and integrating LLM APIs.
  • Domain exposure to middle-market operations, and/or hospitality, entertainment, restaurants, venues, or PE-backed businesses.
  • A track record of mentoring engineers and growing their client and design skills.
