Job description
Proximity Learning offers a unique opportunity to provide free supplemental instruction to students from our Catholic, Christian, Lutheran, and Independent Chicago Area Schools. This Title I-funded role will actively support struggling high school students in small group sessions who need additional academic support in math while focusing on closing the achievement gap and building a stronger foundation. We are seeking a candidate who is passionate about children, enthusiastic, reliable, respectful, and patient while working with our students. To be successful, candidates must be able to multitask, show initiative, and be creative thinkers. This position is highly regarded in the school and requires someone with the flexibility and personality to work as a classroom instructor and a valued resource person.
What You Will Be Doing:
- You will provide supplemental instruction to small groups of students struggling with Math in a pull-out classroom setting, directly impacting their learning and academic performance.
- Collaboration and communication are not just aspects of this role; they are its essence. You will work closely with the student's classroom teachers to align instruction, support struggling students' development in Math, and extend classroom instruction. Together, we can make a difference.
- Develop and implement lesson plans to improve academic performance.
- Your role is not just about teaching Math but also about creating a positive, achievement-oriented learning environment. Your ability to motivate student attendance is crucial in shaping their attitudes toward learning, a responsibility we take very seriously.
- Continuously assess students' progress, formally and informally, to adjust instruction and grouping.
- Understand the need to complete the compliance forms required and adhere to Title I guidelines and requirements.
- Effective communication is key in this role. You will be expected to regularly update PLI management, school staff, and families on student progress, fostering a collaborative environment.
