The Math Specialist will provide one-on-one and small-group instruction and tutoring to TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) participants for a learner-centered approach to meeting success outcomes. As the supervisor for peer tutors in the program, this position will provide onboarding, training, and oversight of student-employee performance goals. As liaison for SSS, the Math Specialist works closely with UWL math department faculty and Tutoring & Learning Center leadership to maintain relationships and align support practices according to curricular expectations. SSS-eligible students include first-generation, low-income students and students with disabilities. This position reports directly to the Director ofSSS.
This is a 9-month position that coincides with our Academic Year and requires 30 hours per week.

Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in math, math education, chemistry, biology, science, or related fields.
Experience tutoring, teaching or instructing students in math or sciences.
Experience empowering students and facilitating student success.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Computer literacy.
Master's degree or higher in the sciences, math, education, or related fields.
Minimum 2 years' experience instructing and/or tutoring at the post-secondary level.
Experience working with TRIO-eligible populations (first-generation college students, individuals from low-income households, or individuals with a documented disability).
Knowledge of, or experience working in,TRIOPrograms.
Familiarity with student retention issues and strategies.
Similar experience or background as that ofTRIOparticipants.
