Job description

Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring an Accounting Supervisor, Energy Marketing Accounting, on a permanent full-time basis within our Finance team. This position is a hybrid opportunity and is based in Saskatoon, SK.

Are you an accounting leader who enjoys bringing together people, processes, and financial information to keep things moving in the right direction? In this role, you'll lead an Energy Accounting team while helping ensure accurate financial reporting, supporting system and process improvements, and guiding the team through change. This is an opportunity to make an impact both in the day-to-day operations of the team and in the continued evolution of our accounting practices.

What you'll do:

  • Lead and supervise a team of five employees by assigning and reviewing work, supporting development, managing performance, and ensuring team priorities are achieved.

  • Oversee key activities within the monthly and quarterly financial reporting process, including reviewing team deliverables, preparing financial statements, and completing financial analysis and supporting documentation.

  • Support external consolidation, audit financial statements, and external audit activities.

  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve accounting processes, systems, and practices, including JD Edwards and other Energy systems.

  • Support system and technology changes by assessing impacts, recommending process updates, and helping stakeholders successfully adopt new ways of working.

  • Provide accounting guidance and collaborate with Finance partners and senior accounting team members to resolve issues, support business needs, and ensure accurate and timely results.

Who you'll work with:
The Team: Reporting to the Accounting Supervisor, Energy Marketing Reporting, you'll lead a team of five in-scope employees and work closely with the Accounting Supervisor, Energy Marketing Reporting, Senior Manager, Energy Corporate Accounting, Finance Business Partners, and other Corporate Accounting and Finance team members. Together, you'll support accurate financial reporting, strengthen accounting processes, and help deliver effective system and organizational change.

Who you are:
You are looking for a career in Finance and:

  • Have 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience. Previous supervisory experience is an asset.
  • Have a Bachelor's Degree or Business Degree with a major in Accounting.
  • Actively working towards a CPA designation. A CPA designation is considered an asset.
