Staff Accountant

Location: Honolulu, Hawaii

Department: Accounting & Finance

Full Time

Monday - Friday

Salary is starting at $65,000 per year; negotiable based on prior relevant experience

Role Overview

The Plaza is hiring a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support daily financial operations, including AP/AR, payroll, monthly reconciliations, General Excise Tax (GET) reporting, and month-end close.

Key Responsibilities
  • AP/AR & Billing: Process weekly invoices, vendor payments, resident billings, cash receipts, and trust account transfers. Reconcile vendor statements.

  • General Ledger & Month-End: Post recurring journal entries, perform GL and bank/credit card reconciliations, and help prepare monthly financial packets.

  • Payroll & Tax: Review payroll, balance benefit reports, issue manual checks, and prepare monthly General Excise Tax (GET) filings.

  • Operations & Admin: Oversee credit card expense reporting, support community office managers with billing queries, and assist with basic office administration.

Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelors degree in a related field OR equivalent practical experience.

  • Proficiency with accounting software and MS Office.

  • Must meet company health and physical requirements (including communicable disease clearance).

Preferred:
  • Bachelors in accounting.

  • 3+ years in accounting; 1+ year in high-volume AP/AR.

  • Experience with Sage Intacct, PointClickCare, and Enquire.

  • Advanced Excel skills.

Physical Requirements
  • Frequent sitting/standing; occasional bending, reaching, and light lifting.
