Job description

The YMCA of Concord is seeking a friendly, knowledgeable Health & Wellness Coach to help create a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment in our wellness center. In this role, you will serve as a visible and approachable presence on the wellness floor, assisting members with equipment use, answering fitness-related questions, and helping ensure a positive experience for all participants.
Health & Wellness Coaches play an important role in supporting member engagement by providing guidance, encouragement, and basic instruction while promoting safe exercise practices and the YMCA's mission of healthy living.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor the wellness floor to ensure safe and proper use of cardio and strength training equipment
  • Welcome members and provide assistance, encouragement, and general fitness guidance as needed
  • Orient new members on the proper use of fitness equipment and wellness center policies
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe workout environment
  • Respond to member questions and direct individuals to appropriate YMCA programs or staff for additional support
  • Promote a positive, inclusive atmosphere that supports member engagement and retention
  • Report equipment concerns or safety issues to appropriate staff

Qualifications:
  • Interest in health, fitness, and supporting others in their wellness goals
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain a friendly and professional presence on the wellness floor
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • Prior fitness, recreation, or customer service experience preferred
