Job description

The Opportunity
Manthei Construction is a premier heavy construction and site development company with locations in Charlevoix & Traverse City, MI as well as East Troy, WI. For over 50 years, Manthei Construction has been instrumental in the development of communities and their infrastructure all throughout Northern Michigan. And even after five decades, we feel like we're just getting started.
Our trucking division is booming and we are currently looking for B-Train/Gravel Train Truck Drivers. The primary responsibility of this position requires safely driving a tractor-trailer for the transportation of HIGH FORMAT concrete products, attention to safe loading and unloading at a variety of job sites and dealers, and maintaining a clean truck both inside and out.
If you have a love for driving trucks but want to be home at night, this could be the PERFECT position for you! This position is Monday-Friday with very occasional Saturdays and regular overtime is incurred. Possible overnight travel, very occasionally.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • Safely drive truck (manual transmission) to and from destination applying knowledge of DOT driving regulations
  • Handle and maneuver truck controls for safe loading and unloading of material
  • Communicate with Trucking Supervisor before leaving the plant to ensure delivery to the correct customer and job site
  • Keep equipment in acceptable condition of cleanliness using approved cleaning materials and supplies
  • Maintain contact with supervisor/dispatch to receive and transmit delivery instructions
  • Cooperate and promote a team concept with all other company employees, as well as customers
  • Haul up to 104,000 lbs of Company block products
  • Secure every load by strapping to Company and DOT standards
  • Perform other duties as needed

Experience, Licenses, and Certificates
  • Must have a Class A Commercial Driver's License with doubles endorsement (we can help you get one if you don't have one)
  • At least 2 years experience
