JOB DETAILS:

Client: Microsoft

Role: SDE-1 (Azure & C# Programming)

Location: Redmond, WA

Type: Contract

Duration: 6+ Months

Description:

Work very closely with a developer.  Developing a VM extension.  Executes on azure VMs, they need to role it out and put it into production.  Needs to be deployed on half a million systems.  This person will need to understand the azure deployment process, handle customer complaints, debug into those VMs and run certain tools to obtain additional information to see if the issue can be ignored (operating the VM extension.  The second part of the role is advancing the degree of automation.  Programing skills will be required, C# will be required.  Developed Azure cloud services, azure programing model.

Explicit work items:

Develop enhancements to an existing Cloud VM extension, and operating it in production. The extension is injected to all internal VMs. The extension must be re-deployed worldwide, every month. Part of the job is enhancing the VM extension so the monthly deployment becomes as much automated as possible. This includes adding instrumentation, logging, tracing, changing the design to talk to cloud-based fabric controllers. The job exposes the candidate to many of the low level internal workings of Cloud and other core infrastructure components. Deploying the VM extension monthly also involves troubleshooting customers that observe, their cloud service being impacted by the VM extension.

From a development point of few, C# programming skills is required. An understanding of cloud service development is also important.

Participate in the development of software programs, applications, and/or network products. Perform design and analysis tasks as a team member. Proactively identify issues and coordinate resolutions.
