Job description

Cloud Engineer Location: Columbia, SC Hybrid (3 days per month onsite) Interview Process: 1 round, Virtual/Online Duration: 12 Months Employment Type: Contract Experience Required: 12+ Years Candidate location: Candidate MUST be a SC resident. No relocation allowed. Project Scope: We are seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to support cloud operations and migration initiatives as the organization transitions to a managed cloud environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in AWS, Azure, Terraform, cloud architecture, and infrastructure automation, with the ability to support enterprise cloud platforms and migration projects. Key Responsibilities: Perform system administration, automation, and engineering tasks for the Cloud Management Platform (CMP). Support migrations to AWS and Azure cloud environments.

Collaborate with technical teams to ensure successful cloud adoption and migration activities. Maintain and support shared cloud services across AWS and Azure. Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.

Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize cloud infrastructure performance and security. Provide technical leadership, documentation, and knowledge transfer to internal teams. Support cloud governance, cost optimization, and operational best practices.

Required Skills & Experience: 12+ years of overall IT experience. 10+ years of experience in infrastructure, systems engineering, DevOps, or cloud architecture. 8+ years of technical architecture experience.

Strong experience with AWS and Azure cloud platforms. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform). Strong understanding of cloud networking, identity and access management, and cloud operations.

Excellent troubleshooting, automation, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Skills: Expertise in Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). 5-7 years of AWS experience (IAM, Organizations, Networking, Cost Management, Security).

3-5 years of Azure experience (RBAC, Azure AD, Networking, Cost Management). 3-7 years of enterprise cloud architecture or cloud governance. 3-5 years of cloud migration and platform operations experience.

Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, or other container technologies. Experience with ServiceNow, Datadog, Dome9, Aviatrix, or similar cloud management and monitoring tools. Background in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Software Development, or Systems Engineering.

Experience with configuration management and continuous deployment (CI/CD). Strong leadership, mentoring, and knowledge transfer experience. Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

Preferred Certifications AWS Certification and/or Microsoft Azure Certification preferred.
