SCOPE OF WORK / ADD’T NOTES
● Support a primarily Azure-based infrastructure environment
● Manage cloud operations and infrastructure administration
● Support Linux server environments
● Administer virtualization platforms including VMware and Nutanix
● Monitor and improve Azure security posture
● Address over 100 cloud security findings and recommendations
● Assist with cloud governance initiatives
● Manage Azure cost optimization activities including reservations and savings plans
● Support disaster recovery initiatives and Azure Site Recovery
● Participate in infrastructure deployments and maintenance
● Support enterprise storage platforms including NetApp
● Participate in on-call rotation (currently every 5 weeks; moving to every 6 weeks after hire)
● Support healthcare-related systems including Epic infrastructure

Role Overview: The Cloud Engineer Senior manages the design, support and up-keep of the organization's hybrid cloud-based systems to ensure the organization can operate efficiently and safely. Working under minimal supervision, the Cloud Engineer Senior ensures that the hybrid cloud infrastructure and larger systems are working properly and meets the organization's needs.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available IaaS and PaaS environments across the organization’s hybrid cloud platforms
- Architect and manage core cloud infrastructure components, including virtual networks, compute, storage, and identity services
- Optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency through continuous monitoring and tuning
- Ensure the implementation of cloud solutions are implemented properly and efficiently given the organization's current needs
- Review cloud hardware, software, and applications to ensure data is secure and that security management and privacy requirements are incorporated
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive resolution of incidents
- Remain up to date about new cloud products, technology, and best practices
- Manage the configuration, support, and documentation related to Disaster Recovery efforts for hybrid cloud workloads
- Ensure the enforcement of standards and best practices to provide efficient and cost-effective cloud solutions
- Interact with other IT teams and/or project teams to provide support, implementation, and design recommendations for cloud workloads
- Oversee and support the performance of storage systems to establish a reliable and scalable storage infrastructure
- Oversee and support the implementation and integration of virtualization infrastructure (Azure, VMware, & Nutanix), operating systems (Windows & Linux), storage systems, and backup solutions with the existing IT environment for on-premise and cloud workloads
- Review regular infrastructure utilization reports from junior colleagues to stay up to date on infrastructure usage and potential capacity constraints
- Participate in an on-call rotation
- Perform other duties as reasonably required or assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field and/or equivalent work experience
- At least 5 years of hands on experience with Azure
- Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining IaaS platforms
- At least 5 years of architecting and managing core cloud infrastructure components, including virtual networks, compute, storage, and identity services
- At least 3 years of hands on supporting on-premise virtualization infrastructure (VMware & Nutanix is preferred)
- At least 2 years of managing the configuration, support, and documentation related to Disaster Recovery efforts for hybrid cloud workloads
- Required: Platform-centric certification for cloud
- On call rotation required
