Job description

Role: Cyber Security Cloud Engineer

Location: Austin, TX Onsite 4-5 days/week. Candidates must be local to the Austin area.

Duration: 12 Months

Summary:

The client has issued a request for a Cloud Security Engineer to support their Tools Team and will be responsible for implementing and maintaining their current Cloud Security Monitoring tool. Candidates should be versed in multiple cloud solutions including, but not limited to, Google, AWS, and Azure. They should also have hands-on experience with cloud security (risk assessments, incident response, DevSecOps, and cloud security monitoring tools) and ideal candidates will also hold a Cloud Security Engineer certification.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Maintain Cloud Security Monitoring Tool

Develop and implement automated security controls and guardrails across GCP environments.

Maintain compliance with internal security standards and external regulatory frameworks through audits, remediation, and continuous monitoring

Minimum Candidate Characteristics:

8+ years designing and managing cloud environments (GCP, AWS, Azure)

Deep experience in cloud security fundamentals: risk assessments, vulnerability management, incident response, container security, DevSecOps

Proficient in using cloud security monitoring tools (e.g. WIZ, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Tenable)

Exceptional Candidate Characteristics:

  • Experience designing and managing cloud environments for a Texas State Agency
  • Holds Google Professional Cloud Security Engineer certification
  • Hands-on experience with Cloud KMS, Cloud Armor, SCC, GKE, DLP, Chronicle

Responsibilities:

The Tools Team Cloud Security Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security controls across multiple cloud platform environments (Google, AWS, Azure. Etc). This role ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of cloud hosted applications, data, and infrastructure by applying best practices in identity, network, data protection, monitoring, and compliance. Selected individual will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the current Cloud Security Monitoring tool deployed by the client.

Team member will provide services in the following areas:

  • Maintain Cloud Security Monitoring Tool
  • Develop and implement automated security controls and guardrails across GCP environments.
  • Maintain compliance with internal security standards and external regulatory frameworks through audits, remediation, and continuous monitoring

Minimum (Required):

  • 8 Years of Designing and managing Cloud solutions (Google, AWS, Azure)
  • 8 Years of Hands-on experience performing risk assessments, vulnerability management, incident response, and cloud architecture task
  • 8 Years of Incident response, risk management, cybersecurity fundamentals, container security, and DevSecOps
  • 8 Years of Effective, professional business communication and reporting
  • 8 Years of Knowledge and hands on experience using Cloud Security Monitoring Tools (Ex WIZ, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Tenable Cloud Security)

 Preferred (Optional):

  • Google Professional Cloud Security Engineer certification
  • Experience with Cloud KMS, Cloud Armor, SCC, GKE, DLP, and Chronicle
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps, container security, and automated policy enforcement
