Position Title: Azure Lead (Cloud-Native Test Lead)
Location: Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD
Clearance Required: DoD SECRET
Greetings and Introduction:
Thank you for considering EPIC Scientific LLC. We are seeking a Azure Lead to lead conversions and evaluate applications in a cloud-native environment in support of Army acquisition and PEO C3N cloud-native principles.
Position Overview:
As the Azure Lead (Cloud-Native Test Lead), you will design, build, and operate a secure test sandbox for evaluating cloud-native applications, lead application conversion and evaluation efforts, and help shape PEO C3N cloud-native guidance for Army acquisition. You will work with program offices, developers, and security teams to enable repeatable, auditable testing and promote DevSecOps practices.
Typical Tasks Include:
  • Design, deploy, and maintain a cloud-native test sandbox (Kubernetes, container runtimes, networking, and observability).
  • Lead conversion and evaluation efforts for candidate applications, including functional and non-functional testing.
  • Define and enforce CI/CD, IaC (Terraform), and configuration management best practices.
  • Implement security controls consistent with DoD/Army guidance (STIGs, FedRAMP/CC SRG considerations) and integrate automated security scanning into pipelines.
  • Develop test plans, acceptance criteria, and metrics to evaluate application readiness for acquisition decisions.
  • Collaborate with PEO C3N stakeholders to translate cloud-native principles into testable criteria and evaluation checklists.
  • Provide technical mentorship and conduct knowledge transfers to program teams.
  • Produce clear technical documentation and briefs for leadership and contracting officers.

Position Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Active DoD SECRET clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in cloud engineering, with at least 3 years in cloud-native application evaluation or migration (senior level).
  • Demonstrated experience designing and operating Kubernetes clusters and containerized application platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation), and configuration management.
  • Strong understanding of DoD/Army cloud security requirements and secure engineering practices.
  • Proven track record leading technical efforts and delivering test environments for government or defense customers.

Required Skills:
  • Kubernetes (architecture, operators, cluster lifecycle) and container orchestration.
  • CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar) and pipeline automation.
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred) and automated provisioning.
  • Scripting (Python, Bash, or similar) and automation for testing and deployment.
  • Knowledge of DoD security frameworks, STIGs, and compliance automation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to brief senior leadership.

Desired Skills:
  • Experience supporting Army acquisition programs or PEO C3N initiatives.
  • Cloud provider certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Kubernetes certifications (CKA/CKAD).
  • Familiarity with service mesh, observability (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK), and SRE practices.
  • Experience with container security tools and DevSecOps toolchains.
  • Prior experience developing test criteria for acquisition decision points.

Benefits of Working at EPIC Scientific:
  • Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)
  • Retirement Plan (401k, IRA)
  • Life Insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D)
  • Paid Time Off (Vacation & 11 Paid Holidays)
