Reporting into the Senior Director, Global Cloud Platforms, this role connects architecture strategy with financial accountability, ensuring that cloud platforms deliver measurable outcomes aligned with enterprise priorities.
This leader is responsible for integrating financial operations (FinOps) principles into cloud architecture, enabling transparency, governance, and optimization across cloud investments. The role ensures that architecture design, platform standardization, and engineering practices are closely aligned with cost efficiency, performance, and sustainability objectives.
Working across a highly matrixed global organization, the Senior Director partners with platform engineering, finance, Digital Product, Data & AI, and Operating Units to embed cost-aware decision-making into architecture practices. This role drives the adoption of standardized, reusable, and scalable cloud solutions while ensuring that financial discipline is embedded into the digital growth engine.
This position influences enterprise-wide behaviors around cloud consumption, cost accountability, and value realization, ensuring that cloud is not only a technology enabler but a strategic driver of productivity, efficiency, and innovation.
Key responsibilities:
  • Own the enterprise Cloud FinOps strategy, operating model, governance, and maturity roadmap across all cloud platforms and business domains.

  • Lead enterprise cloud budgeting, forecasting, show back, chargeback, and cloud investment planning processes.

  • Provide executive-level reporting and insights on cloud spend, ROI, business value realization, and optimization opportunities.

  • Partner with Finance and Cloud Platform teams to drive cost transparency, forecasting, and financial accountability across cloud environments

  • Ensure that architecture decisions support effective cost management practices, including right-sizing, workload optimization, and lifecycle management

  • Collaborate with Digital Product and engineering teams to embed cost-aware design principles into cloud-native architectures and development practices

  • Guide the design of scalable and efficient cloud solutions that balance innovation with financial discipline and operational efficiency

  • Support global cloud governance by ensuring alignment between architecture standards, cost controls, and enterprise policies

  • Drive adoption of standardized, reusable architecture patterns that reduce duplication and improve cost efficiency across business units

  • Develop optimization strategies for AI, machine learning, analytics, and high-performance computing workloads to balance innovation with cost efficiency.

  • Lead cloud commercial optimization strategies with hyperscalers and technology partners, including commitment management, reserved capacity planning, enterprise agreements, consumption incentives, and contract optimization.

  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve cloud cost optimization maturity, tooling, and reporting across the enterprise

  • Build organizational capability by promoting awareness and adoption of FinOps practices among architects, engineers, and product teams

Requirements & Qualifications

FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP), FinOps Certified Professional (FOCP), or equivalent cloud financial management certifications preferred.

  • Proven experience integrating cost management or FinOps practices into cloud or technology environments establishing accountability frameworks and KPIs for cloud consumption, optimization, and value realization.

  • Strong expertise in cloud architecture principles, including scalability, performance, resilience, and cost optimization

  • Experience managing cloud spend portfolios exceeding enterprise-scale technology investments.

  • Experience in hybrid and multi-cloud environments at enterprise scale (SAP Cloud, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)

  • Solid understanding of cloud financial management concepts, including cost allocation, forecasting, optimization, and value realization

  • Experience collaborating with Finance, Procurement, and Technology teams to align investments with business outcomes.

  • Experience optimizing cloud economics for Data platforms, AI services, GPU consumption, and advanced analytics environments.

  • Strong understanding of governance, compliance, and risk considerations in cloud environments

  • Proven ability to influence decision-making across cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization
