Job Description โ€“ Azure DevOps Engineer

Location Hybrid--Downers Grove, IL / Quincy, IL

 

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Azure Developer to design, develop, deploy, and maintain scalable, cloud-native applications on the Microsoft Azure platform. The ideal candidate will have strong software development experience with Azure PaaS, Serverless technologies, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), and CI/CD automation. You will collaborate with architects, DevOps engineers, and product teams to build secure, high-performing, and resilient cloud solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure.
  • Build and manage Azure resources, including Azure App Service, Azure Functions (Serverless), and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
  • Develop applications using C#, .NET Core, Python, Java, or Node.js.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
  • Design and optimize solutions using Azure SQL Database, Cosmos DB, and Azure Storage.
  • Build event-driven and microservices-based applications using Azure Service Bus, Event Grid, Event Hubs, and Azure API Management (APIM).
  • Implement secure authentication and authorization using Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Managed Identities, Azure Key Vault, and RBAC.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Harness or GitHub Actions.
  • Monitor applications using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and architectural discussions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 3โ€“5+ years of software development experience with at least 2+ years on Microsoft Azure.
  • Strong programming experience in C#, .NET Core, Python, Java, or Node.js.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure App Service, Azure Functions, AKS, Docker, and Azure Container Registry.
  • Experience with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure SQL Database, Cosmos DB, and Azure Storage.
  • Experience building and consuming REST APIs and working with Azure API Management (APIM).
  • Knowledge of OAuth2, OpenID Connect, Azure Key Vault, and cloud security best practices.
  • Experience with Git and modern branching strategies.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) or Azure Container Apps.
  • Experience migrating on-premises applications to Azure PaaS/Serverless environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Bicep or ARM templates.
  • Microsoft Azure certifications such as AZ-204 (Azure Developer Associate) or AZ-305 (Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are highly preferred.
