Job description

Position Description: CGI Federal is a seeking Data Platform Operations Engineer to support the administration, monitoring, and optimization of enterprise data and analytics platforms, including Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse, Microsoft Power Platform, and Palantir. This role requires an active Secret security clearance and will help ensure the stability, performance, and governance of mission critical data environments by partnering with engineering, architecture, and business teams to maintain reliable operations and seamless data flows. This position is located in Arlington, VA. Your future duties and responsibilities: . Administer and support Azure Databricks environments (workspaces, clusters, pools, job scheduling/orchestration). . Support operations of Azure Synapse (pipelines, Spark pools, SQL pools), including monitoring and performance tuning. . Maintain operational monitoring, alerting, logging, and incident response for Databricks, Synapse, and related Azure services. . Troubleshoot job failures, cluster performance issues, Spark execution problems, and data connectivity/network related bottlenecks; document root cause and corrective actions. . Support production deployments, version control, and rollback strategies for data platform changes. . Administer Power BI workspaces, refresh processes, deployment pipelines, and capacity usage (as applicable). . Support Power Platform administration (environment management, DLP policies, connector governance, lifecycle/usage monitoring) and Admin Center operations (auditing, governance tasks). . Operate and support platforms such as Palantir (e.g., Foundry) including pipeline/job execution monitoring, basic troubleshooting, and operational support. . Maintain runbooks, SOPs, and platform documentation; contribute to operational best practices and governance standards. Required qualifications to be successful in this role: . Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). . 1-4 years of experience in platform operations, data operations, systems administration, or data engineering support roles. . Hands on exposure to Azure Databricks administration and/or operations support. . Familiarity with Azure Synapse operations and/or Azure data services (e.g., ADLS Gen2). . Familiarity with ETL/ELT concepts and supporting production data workloads. . Working knowledge of Git based workflows and CI/CD concepts (build/release pipelines, change control). . Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to follow incident/problem management processes. . Strong documentation habits and ability to work with cross functional teams. . Active Secret security clearance (required). Desired qualifications/non essential skills required: . Experience with Power BI administration (dataset refresh troubleshooting, workspace governance, performance tuning). . Experience configuring and managing On Premises Data Gateways. . Familiarity with Power Platform governance (DLP policies, environment strategy, connector management). . Exposure to Palantir Foundry operations/support. . Familiarity with Azure networking concepts (VNets, private endpoints, firewall rules). . Experience with cost/performance optimization for compute and storage in Azure data platforms. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $58,000.00 $136,200.00.
