Job Summary:
MDAEdge is seeking a Medicaid Data Systems Analyst to support data modernization efforts. The role involves leading the implementation of an Enterprise Data Catalog and ensuring data quality while collaborating on cost optimization initiatives.
Responsibilities:
• Lead Enterprise Data Catalog implementation (e.g., Microsoft Purview or Unity Catalog), including business glossary ownership for Medicaid data.
• Document and verify end-to-end data lineage from raw MMIS sources through Databricks transformations to PowerBI reports.
• Organize catalog for easy discovery by policy analysts, highlighting dataset sensitivity (PHI/PII) and update frequency.
• Monitor Data Quality dashboards, alert on MMIS schema changes causing data drift or pipeline failures.
• Collaborate on FinOps to analyze Azure consumption and purge unused datasets for cost optimization.
• Validate Infrastructure as Code deployments for Row-Level Security and masking rules.
• Audit and translate legacy SSIS logic from TFS into business requirements for Azure Data Factory and Databricks.
• Map raw MMIS schemas to target Data Warehouse formats for BI tools.
Qualifications:
Required:
• bachelor's degree
• 5+ years of relevant experience
• 5+ years of experience in Expert T-SQL for data auditing and parity testing between SQL Server and Azure Synapse
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, Azure Databricks, and Azure Synapse
• 5+ years of MMIS data experience, including claims (837), eligibility (270/271), and T-MSIS reporting
• 5+ years of familiarity with TFS for legacy logic review and Azure DevOps for project tracking
• 5+ years of industry certification or training in relevant IT products/platforms/services
• Strong consulting leadership and full project lifecycle delivery
• Metadata architecture and governance expertise
• Collaboration with engineers, architects, and stakeholders on reliability, FinOps, and validation
• Native or bilingual English proficiency
Preferred:
• DMV-area resident preferred
• Certification in Data Governance (e.g., CDMP) or Cloud Fundamentals (e.g., Azure AZ-900)
