Job description

Role: Senior Data Modeler

Location: Remote (Prefer PST, 2nd Preference CST) USA

Experience: Minimum 10+ years

As a Senior Data Modeler you will lead data modeling initiatives, support migration to Azure Databricks Lakehouse architecture, establish data governance standards, and partner with business and technical stakeholders to deliver scalable analytics and reporting solutions.

Duties:

  • Develop and maintain Conceptual, Logical, and Physical Data Models.
  • Design scalable healthcare payer data models for analytics and reporting.
  • Establish enterprise data standards, metadata, naming conventions, and business glossaries.
  • Design Lakehouse-based solutions using Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, and Medallion Architecture.
  • Lead data discovery, source-to-target mapping, and EDW modernization initiatives.
  • Support migration from legacy platforms such as Teradata, Netezza, Oracle, SQL Server, and Hadoop.
  • Collaborate with ETL and Data Engineering teams on data ingestion, orchestration, and transformation frameworks.
  • Design and optimize Power BI semantic models, data marts, star schemas, and snowflake schemas.
  • Define KPIs, measures, dimensions, and reporting hierarchies with business stakeholders.
  • Implement data governance, lineage, metadata management, and data quality frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS, PHI/PII, and enterprise governance standards.
  • Facilitate client workshops, requirements discussions, architecture reviews, and governance meetings.
  • Mentor junior team members and coordinate work across data modeling and engineering teams.

Required:

  • Strong experience in Healthcare Payer domain.
  • Expertise in Conceptual, Logical, and Physical Data Modeling.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks and Lakehouse Architecture.
  • Experience in EDW modernization and migration projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Power BI Semantic Layer Modeling.
  • Experience with: Star Schema, Snowflake Schema, Dimensional Modeling, Data Marts.
  • Knowledge of Delta Lake and Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold).
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF).
  • Strong stakeholder management and client-facing communication skills.
  • Experience implementing data governance, lineage, and data quality practices.
  • Understanding of healthcare compliance standards including HIPAA, CMS, and PHI/PII.
