Our IT team is seeking a Manager, Database Administration with deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and strong proficiency in PostgreSQL. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience optimizing extremely large datasets (2 billion+ records), diagnosing and resolving complex performance issues, and architecting database solutions that scale with business growth. This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role, working closely with engineering, DevOps, and business stakeholders.

 Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Own the full product lifecycle for compliance applications, including requirements gathering, roadmap planning, prioritization, and delivery
  • Ensure product capabilities align with SEC and FINRA regulations related to recordkeeping, surveillance, insider trading, employee trading, and disclosures
  • Serve as the key liaison between Compliance, Legal, Engineering, and vendors to gather feedback and convert business needs into technical requirements
  • Drive integration of third-party compliance tools into internal platforms including surveillance, e-communications monitoring, and case management 
  • Collaborate with data teams to maintain accurate, auditable compliance data that supports internal reporting and regulatory investigations
  • Lead agile ceremonies, manage sprint backlogs, track progress, and deliver high-quality, timely solutions
  • Evaluate, onboard, and manage vendors providing compliance-related technologies and services
  • Support internal audits and risk assessments through clear documentation, transparent workflows, and process improvements
  • Perform other tasks and duties as required and assigned

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited university required, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in database administration, with 8+ years in Microsoft SQL Server (2016 and above)
  • Strong experience with PostgreSQL, including administration and optimization
  • Proven experience managing and optimizing very large datasets (2+ billion records)
  • Deep understanding of query optimization, indexing strategies, and database internals
  • Experience with high-availability solutions (e.g., Always On Availability Groups, Log Shipping, Replication)
  • Strong knowledge of partitioning, data archiving, and horizontal/vertical scaling techniques
  • Scripting proficiency in PowerShell, T-SQL, Bash, or Python to support automation and maintenance tasks
  • Familiarity with cloud database solutions including Azure SQL, AWS RDS, Amazon Aurora, or managed PostgreSQL
  • Strong proficiency in SQL query optimization, database performance tuning, and troubleshooting
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders under tight deadlines in a high-stakes environment
  • Experience working in regulated industries (e.g., finance, healthcare) is a plus
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, PostgreSQL Certified Professional, MongoDB Certified DBA, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert are highly preferred
