We are seeking a Senior AI/ML Engineer to join our dynamic Consumer Engineering team within the Chief Digital Office (CDO). In this role, you will be at the forefront of driving digital transformation, design, and deployment of scalable AI and machine learning models that directly elevate the consumer healthcare experience. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate advanced cognitive solutions, build secure and performant data pipelines, and automate infrastructure to ensure robust, enterprise-scale products. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage modern AI tools and frameworks to build products that make healthcare more accessible, personalized, and intuitive for millions of users.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Prioritize and execute tasks in the software development life cycle (SDLC) for AI/ML tools and applications
  • Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions to address complex business challenges with an emphasis on the responsible use of AI
  • Use enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline workflows, automate tasks, and drive continuous improvement
  • Develop tools, pipelines, and applications by producing clean, efficient, and scalable code in Python, Core Java, or Scala
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and development operations through appropriate scripting and tools (e.g., Terraform)
  • Review, debug, and optimize code to maintain the highest standards of software quality, security, and performance
  • Perform validation, performance, and verification testing on deep learning and machine learning models
  • Evaluate emerging trends and research in artificial intelligence and machine learning to inform solution design and strategic innovation
  • Document development phases, architectures, and monitor deployed AI systems to ensure enterprise-scale reliability

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of equivalent software engineering or data science experience in lieu of a degree
  • 5+ years of software development experience with proficiency in Python, Core Java, or Scala
  • 3+ years of experience designing, building, and deploying AI/ML models or pipelines into production environments
  • 3+ years of experience with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS) and container orchestration using Kubernetes
  • 2+ years of experience in data engineering (e.g., GraphQL, database design, and data pipeline construction)
  • Experience with infrastructure automation using tools such as Terraform
  • Experience utilizing version control systems (e.g., GitHub) for professional team collaboration

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, or a related technical field
  • Experience working with large-scale datasets, data warehousing, and distributed query engines
  • Experience establishing continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for ML models (MLOps)
  • Knowledge of modern Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and prompt engineering best practices
  • Proven solid analytical, communication, and collaboration skills to bridge technical concepts with business requirements

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $120,100 to $214,500 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
