Job description

General Purpose: Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Business Development, the Aztec Lanes Supervisor assists in overseeing the day-to-day operations of Aztec Lanes, a bowling and games center, including programming, staffing, point of sale operations, and facility maintenance. This position oversees Lanes Attendants, Lanes Leads, and Maintenance Assistants.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary Functions

  • Provides on-site facility and event supervision
  • Schedules appropriate levels of staffing to ensure all programs and events are produced and executed in a high-quality and safe manner
  • Ensures accurate input and record-keeping for all reservation and event transactions in the EMS database
  • Ensures the safety and security of all facility occupants, customers and guests. Provides immediate response to situations, and communicates appropriately with the A.S. Safety Manager and Assistant Director of Business Development. Formulates and submits written incident reports immediately after situations occur
  • Assist in planning, organizing, promoting, implementing and evaluating bowling leagues, tournaments, private parties, Exercise and Nutritional Sciences Department classes, special events, retail sales and walk-in use of Aztec Lanes
  • Ensures quality selection and maintenance of all billiards tables, table tennis tables and video gaming systems
  • Assists in the development, planning, coordination and supervision of all program opportunities and ensures they are managed effectively
  • Ensures that programs are conducted in accordance with Associated Students rules and regulations that address participant safety as a high priority
  • Ensures compliance with Aztec Student Union, A.S. and University policies and procedures
  • Makes recommendations to supervisor on potential programming changes, needs and ideas to enhance the attainment of bookings for the facility
  • Successfully demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to mutual respect and appropriate roles of collegiality between students and staff within the context of a student-directed corporation
  • Maintains objectivity in all interactions with students, devoid of personal bias or preference, to ensure all staff recommendations and advice contribute to student decision-making which is free of undue influence and considers all pertinent information as well as any viable alternatives
  • Assists supervisor in defining target markets to assess and grow programs and services. Assists in the ongoing assessment of programs using techniques such as participant evaluations, written surveys, focus groups and informal discussions
  • Ensures web page content is compelling and accurate
  • Initiates and ensures the timely placement of print advertisements and marketing requests
  • Assists others in department with special tasks as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum & Preferred Requirements

Education:

  • Four year degree from an accredited college or university required, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience:

  • One year demonstrated experience overseeing operations and administration of a bowling and games center including:
    • Staff supervision, special event planning, and league coordination required
    • Lane and equipment maintenance experience preferred
  • Experience with meeting and event scheduling software, diagramming software, PowerPoint, databases, and payroll software preferred.
    • Experience with Event Management System – Enterprise Version (EMS) and Meeting Matrix preferred

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Must have, or be able to attain, AED, CPR and First-Aid certifications through the American Red Cross or another nationally recognized organization

SCHEDULE & WORKING CONDITIONS

This is a regular, full-time position. Flexibility and willingness to work long and irregular hours and days, including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed by program schedule.

Compensation

$26.33 - $29.50 Per hour

Work conditions may vary depending upon the location of work. While working in the office, lighting and temperature are adequate with the use of standard office equipment available. While working in the pin room, the work environment may involve exposure to various elements including but not limited to: exposure to moderate to extreme noise (up to 120 decibels), vibrations, limited lighting in areas, exposure to moving mechanical parts.

EMPLOYMENT CATEGORY: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt, Supervisor, Grade 5
