What is AZ-900?

AZ-900 is the Microsoft Azure Fundamentals certification exam. It is designed for individuals who want to demonstrate foundational knowledge of cloud services and how those services are provided with Microsoft Azure. The exam covers core cloud concepts, Azure services, security, privacy, compliance, and pricing. It is intended for beginners and does not require any technical IT experience, making it a great starting point for those new to cloud computing or Microsoft Azure.

What kinds of projects or tasks can someone expect to work on after earning the AZ-900 certification?

After earning the AZ-900 certification, professionals often work on foundational cloud tasks such as assisting with cloud migration projects, helping manage Azure resources, and supporting basic cloud security and compliance efforts. You may also be involved in monitoring cloud services, setting up virtual machines, or providing first-level support for Azure-based applications. This certification typically positions you to work closely with more experienced cloud engineers or administrators, contributing to project documentation and learning hands-on through real-world scenarios.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) professional?

Familiarity with the Azure portal, cloud deployment models, and passing the AZ-900 certification exam are typical requirements. Strong analytical thinking, curiosity, and effective communication help you learn quickly and explain cloud concepts to others. These skills are important because they enable you to support cloud adoption, facilitate learning, and lay the groundwork for more advanced Azure roles.
