Job description

About the Role
Surya Spa is seeking a confident, intuitive, and business-savvy Spa Director to lead a luxury Ayurvedic healing center located within a prestigious branded hotel. This is a unique opportunity to steward a space rooted in ancient healing traditions while operating at the highest level of modern hospitality.

Our center is designed to nurture, heal, and supportโ€”restoring balance to body, mind, and spirit while reconnecting guests to vitality, and a deeper sense of self.

Youโ€™ll work alongside dynamic creators, skilled practitioners, and heart-forward team members to deliver deeply personalized guest experiences and to help Surya grow into a multi-location brand. The ideal candidate brings both grounded leadership and entrepreneurial energyโ€”someone who is as comfortable holding a vision as they are executing on the details.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead all aspects of spa operations, ensuring a seamless, elevated, and deeply restorative guest experience.
  • Cultivate a culture rooted in care, presence, and heart-centered serviceโ€”where healing, warmth, and connection are palpable.
  • Inspire, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary team of therapists, healers, and support staff.
  • Collaborate with hotel leadership and creative partners to evolve programming, offerings, and guest journeys.
  • Drive revenue growth through strategic planning, service optimization, and thoughtful upselling.
  • Maintain a strong grasp of financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, payroll, and cost control.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and licensing requirements.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for innovation, elevated guest engagement, and operational improvements.

Who You Are:
  • A confident and grounded leader who brings clarity, decisiveness, and presence.
  • Flexible and adaptable in a high-touch, evolving luxury environment.
  • Proactive and solutions-oriented, with a bias toward action and building systems.
  • Financially fluent, with a strong grasp of profitability, KPIs, and operational performance.
  • Deeply aligned with wellness, healing, and guest-centered service.
  • An exceptional communicator who can bridge creative vision with operational excellence.
  • Passionate about building culture and nurturing a heart-centered team.

Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in luxury spa, wellness, or hospitality environments.
  • Experience working within or alongside hotel operations strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, KPIs, and team performance.
  • Strong understanding of Ayurvedic principles and treatments is desirable.

Why Join Us:
  • Lead a healing space that blends ancient Ayurvedic rituals with modern luxury hospitality.
  • Work alongside visionary creators and practitioners dedicated to transformation and well-being.
  • Shape immersive guest experiences that restore energy, balance, and connection.
  • Lead with autonomy while being supported by a committed, values-driven team.
  • Play an integral role in the growth of Surya as it expands into additional locations.

Compensation/Benefits:
  • Annual base salary of 120K-150K plus performance bonuses.ย
  • Paid time off, sick pay, paid holidays.
  • Complimentary consultation with Martha Soffer.
  • Complimentary birthday treatment.
  • Complimentary Panchakarma Series (accrued).
  • Free parking & complimentary meal daily.
  • Discounts on rooms and dining at the Santa Monica Proper.

To Apply
Please submit your resume along with a brief statement describing your leadership philosophy and your connection to wellness and healing to helen@thehbrowngroup.com.ย  Because this position at Surya is in the culture of Ayurveda, the company offers the chance to do a Vedic compatibility assessment; if you wish, please also include your birth place, time, date and year.
