Job description

Summary

AFS is searching for an Infrastructure Systems Administrator responsible for the administration, integration, modernization, and day-to-day operational support of a self-hosted ServiceNow platform deployed on AWS in a government/defense environment. Works as part of a small, highly technical team supporting both the underlying infrastructure and advanced AI capabilities built on top of it.

Responsibilities

Platform Administration & Operations

  • Administers RHEL 9 servers and Windows servers supporting a self-hosted ServiceNow environment running on AWS
  • Manages and maintains core AWS infrastructure including EC2 instances, RDS databases, Application Load Balancers (ALBs), security groups, and related services
  • Works incidents and service requests related to platform health, stability, and performance
  • Performs minor and major upgrades to the ServiceNow platform and underlying infrastructure with minimal service disruption

AI & Advanced Capabilities Engineering

  • Deploys, configures, and maintains ServiceNow AI capabilities including Now Assist, AI Search (AIS), Predictive Intelligence, and AI Control Tower
  • Integrates ServiceNow with AWS Bedrock and large language model (LLM) backends to enable generative AI features in a self-hosted, classified environment
  • Supports MCP (Model Context Protocol) server configuration and integration with AI tooling
  • Maintains platform-level configuration and integration across AI capability modules Engineering & Modernization
  • Develops proof-of-concept (POC) solutions and investigates emerging technologies relevant to the platform and mission
  • Produces engineering recommendations in response to evolving technical requirements, new customer needs, and technology advancements
  • Maintains and modernizes infrastructure as platform capabilities and government requirements evolve Integration & Collaboration
  • Works directly with integration partners to troubleshoot and resolve issues arising from third-party integrations
  • Supports other teams across the organization with platform-related needs including CMDB administration, discovery configuration, and ad hoc technical assistance
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to translate operational and customer requirements into technical solutions
