What is an AWS Solution Architect?

An AWS Solution Architect is a cloud computing expert who designs, builds, and manages scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS). When working remotely, they collaborate with clients and teams using online tools to assess business requirements, create architecture diagrams, recommend best practices, and ensure systems are optimized for performance and security. They also help with cloud migration, troubleshoot technical issues, and stay updated on AWS services to provide the best solutions for their clients or employers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an AWS Solution Architect in a remote role?

To thrive as an AWS Solution Architect remotely, you need expertise in cloud architecture, networking, security, and a deep understanding of AWS services, typically supported by an AWS Certified Solutions Architect credential. Familiarity with tools like AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, and CI/CD systems is essential for designing and automating scalable solutions. Strong communication, problem-solving, and self-motivation are vital soft skills for collaborating across distributed teams and managing client expectations. These skills enable the architect to deliver secure, reliable, and cost-effective cloud solutions while working efficiently from any location.

What are some common challenges faced by remote AWS Solution Architects, and how can they be overcome?

Remote AWS Solution Architects often face challenges such as collaborating effectively with distributed teams, staying updated with rapidly evolving AWS services, and maintaining clear communication with stakeholders. These can be addressed by leveraging collaboration tools (e.g., Slack, Zoom), regularly participating in AWS webinars and training, and setting up structured meetings for project updates. Building strong documentation practices and proactively communicating technical decisions also help ensure alignment and project success.

The Opportunity:
At a certain point, experience-based system design can start to look like clairvoyance. When you've developed so many systems that you can not only orchestrate the best solution for any technology-based challenge, but you can also anticipate and preempt future issues, you're a solutions architect. You've evolved your skills into strategy through a long path of software development accomplishments and the curiosity to understand how all the pieces of an IT ecosystem fit together. Are you ready to use your combination of knowledge, skill, and experience to take on the toughest challenges in federal health?
As a Salesforce Solution Architect on our team, you'll translate your customer's IT needs and future goals into a plan by designing scalable, secure, and high-performing Salesforce solutions. You'll lead architectural and technical strategy across CRM, cloud, and data systems to help transform the way organizations operate, including enterprise system integrations, cloud migrations, and modernizing legacy systems. By working closely with engineering, product, cybersecurity, and data teams, you will ensure seamless integration and delivery of impactful solutions while mentoring the next generation of innovators. Work with us and help shape the future of enterprise technology.

  • Ability to align business requirements with technical architecture, delivering solutions that meet scalability, security, reliability, and maintainability standards, and provide technical leadership, including guiding development teams, conducting code reviews, and enforcing architectural standards
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Ability to design and implement scalable, secure, and reliable architectures for cloud applications
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and articulate technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders
