AWS Geospatial Software Engineer

Opportunity

As an AWS Geospatial Software Engineer, you can resolve a problem with a complete end‑to‑end geospatial solution in a fast, agile environment. If you’re looking for the chance to not just develop software, but to create a system that will make a difference, we need you on our team. We’re looking for an experienced developer with the skills needed to develop software and systems from vision to production‑ready. The position expects familiarity with geospatial data processing and development of spatial algorithms at scale.

This role is more than just coding. You’ll use your passion to master new tools and techniques and identify needed system improvements. You’ll help clients overcome their most difficult challenges using the latest architectural approaches, tools, and technologies. You’ll make sure the solution developed by the team considers the architecture and operating environment, as well as future functionality and enhancements.

You Have
  • 5+ years of experience in software with a cloud‑first development approach
  • 5+ years of experience with back‑end development, including back‑end languages such as Java, Python, Go, or C++, and front‑end languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, or CSS
  • 3+ years of experience with enterprise application development focused on geospatial data processing and spatial algorithm development
  • 3+ years of experience with AWS services and cloud‑native architecture patterns, including ECS/EKS, Lambda, SQS, SNS, EC2, RDS, DynamoDB, IAM policies, security groups, and network security
  • 3+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code, including AWS CDK, Terraform, or CloudFormation
  • Experience working with containerization, including Docker, Kubernetes, or ECS/EKS, and container orchestration
  • Experience developing and deploying production geospatial applications from concept to O&M
  • TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph
  • Bachelor’s degree
Nice If You Have
  • Experience with Authority to Operate (ATO) processes and security documentation
  • Experience with database administration and optimization, including RDS, DynamoDB, or MongoDB
  • Experience with serverless architecture such as Lambda and API Gateway
  • Experience leading technical initiatives in large‑scale environments
  • Experience with system design, with focus on scalability and reliability
  • Experience developing Geospatial UIs, implementing DevOps mechanisms for projects, and designing and implementing UI for artificial intelligence or machine learning applications
  • Knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements
  • AWS Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Developer Certifications
  • IAT Level II+ Certification such as Security+ or CISSP Certifications
Clearance

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required.

Compensation

Salary Range: $86,800 to $198,000 (annualized USD). Total compensation includes health, life, disability, financial, and retirement benefits, paid leave, professional development, tuition assistance, work‑life programs, and dependent care.
