Aws Distribution information

What is AWS Distribution?

AWS Distribution refers to the network of authorized partners and resellers who distribute Amazon Web Services (AWS) products and services to customers. These distributors help businesses access AWS cloud solutions, manage billing, provide technical support, and sometimes offer additional services such as training or migration assistance. Working with an AWS distributor can make it easier for organizations to adopt cloud technologies, especially if they need local expertise or support. Distributors often help ensure that customers select and implement the right AWS services for their needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an AWS Distribution specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as an AWS Distribution Specialist, you need expertise in cloud computing concepts, AWS services, and distribution logistics, often supported by a relevant technical degree and AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner. Proficiency with AWS Management Console, automation tools, and monitoring systems is typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, effective communication, and attention to detail help professionals excel in managing cloud resources and coordinating with stakeholders. These skills ensure secure, efficient, and scalable distribution of AWS solutions while meeting organizational needs.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in AWS Distribution roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in AWS Distribution often work with a wide range of clients and must ensure seamless integration of AWS services into diverse infrastructures. Common challenges include staying updated with rapidly evolving cloud technologies, troubleshooting complex deployment issues, and managing large-scale migrations with minimal downtime. To address these, it's important to engage in ongoing training, leverage AWS documentation and support resources, and collaborate closely with both technical and non-technical teams. Building strong communication skills and maintaining flexibility in problem-solving are key to success in this role.

Job description

Who You’ll Work With:

You'll join the Application Engineering team, which builds the systems and data platform that power investment workflows across Private Alternatives branch of the firm—from core back-office applications (deals, tranches, accounting) to newer AI-driven tools used directly by traders. The team is distributed across Minneapolis and Nashville. In Nashville, you'll work closely with a small, high-impact group of engineers and business analysts, while collaborating daily with teammates in Minneapolis across engineering and analytics.

What You’ll Do:
  • Build and operate a FastAPI-based platform supporting trading, analytics, risk, and back-office workflows
  • Build and evolve internal AI tools, including Snowflake-based agents that enable traders to explore firm data via natural language
  • Design scalable APIs across domains like trades, positions, exposures, and investor accounting
  • Develop data services on top of Snowflake, with a focus on performance and usability
  • Integrate LLM capabilities (AWS Bedrock, Snowflake Cortex) into applications, including conversational interfaces and document workflows
  • Connect systems across the stack, including BI tools (Looker, Sigma), AWS services (ECS, Lambda), and internal platforms
  • Implement background processing pipelines (Redis Queue) for reporting and asynchronous workflows
  • Define and manage infrastructure using Terraform and AWS
  • Maintain high code quality through testing, CI/CD, and code standards
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate complex data needs into reliable systems
What We’re Looking For:
  • Around 5 years of software engineering experience
  • Strong Python skills and experience building production APIs
  • Solid SQL skills and experience with data warehouses (Snowflake a plus)
  • Experience with AWS and infrastructure as code (Terraform preferred)
  • Familiarity with Docker, Redis, and background job systems is ideal
  • Interest in or experience with LLMs and AI features (prompting, RAG, agents)
  • Experience with relational databases and ORMs (PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy)
  • Strong testing practices and a focus on code quality
  • Clear communicator who values simple, maintainable code
