What is an AWS Connect Developer?

An AWS Connect Developer is a software engineer or IT professional who specializes in designing, developing, and maintaining contact center solutions using Amazon Connect, a cloud-based contact center service offered by AWS. They are responsible for integrating Amazon Connect with other AWS services, customizing customer experience flows, and developing tools or applications that enhance communication, reporting, and automation. AWS Connect Developers often work with technologies such as Lambda, Lex, S3, and DynamoDB to build scalable and efficient customer support systems.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an AWS Connect Developer?

To thrive as an AWS Connect Developer, you need expertise in cloud computing, contact center technologies, and programming languages such as JavaScript or Python, often supported by a degree in computer science or related fields. Familiarity with AWS services (like Lambda, S3, and DynamoDB), AWS Connect APIs, and relevant AWS certifications (such as AWS Certified Developer – Associate) is typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, effective communication, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams set outstanding developers apart. These skills and qualifications are crucial for designing, implementing, and optimizing scalable, secure, and efficient contact center solutions in dynamic environments.

What are some common challenges faced by AWS Connect Developers when integrating contact flows with external systems?

AWS Connect Developers often encounter challenges when integrating contact flows with external CRMs or databases, such as ensuring secure data transfer, managing API rate limits, and handling real-time data synchronization. It's also important to maintain seamless user experiences while troubleshooting latency or connectivity issues. Collaborating closely with network engineers and system administrators can help resolve integration roadblocks and ensure a smooth customer journey.

Job description

We're looking for a Senior Communications & Marketing Manager to own communications, content, and enablement for the AWS Builder Experience team. You'll make sure our story is clear, compelling, and consistent across every audience: writing launch content, building enablement resources, crafting narratives that connect our work to broader AWS goals, and getting the right message to the right people at the right time.
This is a high-visibility, high-autonomy role. You'll work directly with the leadership team and collaborate across product, engineering, developer relations, and marketing teams to shape how we talk about what we build.
Key job responsibilities
- Communications Strategy: Define and own the communications strategy and measurement framework for Builder Experience products

Recommend approaches, set priorities, and drive execution for product launches, milestones, and leadership content.
- Enablement & Content: Create resources, guides, and programs that help people discover and get value from Builder Experience products. Translate technical work into clear, audience-appropriate content. Build scalable playbooks and mechanisms for repeatable communications workflows.
- Narratives & Storytelling: Craft compelling narratives that connect our work to broader AWS and Amazon goals

Support leadership with messaging for team gatherings, planning docs, and VP-level updates.
- Event Communications: Support messaging for events (re:Invent, AWS Summits, Heroes Summit) including pre/post event comms, social coverage, and recap content.
- Metrics & Business Impact: Define success metrics that connect communications effectiveness to product adoption and business outcomes. Own measurement frameworks, propose new metrics, and use data to refine strategy.
- Stakeholder Management: Build relationships across adjacent teams (PR, AWS Marketing, Developer Relations) to ensure alignment and amplification opportunities. Work closely with the Marketing Manager for AWS Builder Center and Community, and the Marketing Manager for AWS Builder Loft to align messaging, coordinate programs, and ensure a unified voice across the Builder Experience portfolio.
- Mentoring & Team Development: Mentor and develop others in the organization

Contribute to hiring, peer feedback, and talent development.
This role requires up to 40% domestic and international travel to support events (re:Invent, AWS Summits, Heroes Summit), cross-site collaboration, and stakeholder engagement. Travel will vary by quarter and peak around major AWS events.
