Aws Azure Devops Engineer information

What does an AWS Azure DevOps Engineer do?

An AWS Azure DevOps Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure and development pipelines using both Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure. They automate deployment processes, configure continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, and ensure the reliability and security of cloud-based applications. By leveraging tools and best practices from both cloud platforms, these engineers help development teams deliver software faster and more efficiently. They also collaborate with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to streamline workflows and optimize cloud resources.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an AWS Azure DevOps Engineer?

To thrive as an AWS Azure DevOps Engineer, you need a solid understanding of cloud platforms (AWS and Azure), infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and scripting, typically backed by a relevant degree and cloud certifications. Familiarity with tools like Jenkins, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, and version control systems such as Git is essential. Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills help you work effectively with cross-functional teams and rapidly address technical challenges. These capabilities are crucial for ensuring reliable, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure that meets organizational goals.

What are some common challenges faced by an AWS Azure DevOps Engineer when working in hybrid cloud environments?

AWS Azure DevOps Engineers often encounter challenges in ensuring seamless integration and consistent deployment pipelines across both AWS and Azure platforms. Managing infrastructure-as-code, security policies, and monitoring tools that work cohesively in a multi-cloud setup can be complex. Additionally, keeping up with rapid updates from both cloud providers and facilitating clear communication between cross-functional teams are critical aspects of the role. Adopting automation, standardized practices, and robust documentation helps overcome these challenges and ensures smooth operations.

Job description

Senior Engineer (AWS, Azure, Terraform, Kubernetes)
Department: Engineering
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: Remote (USA)
Compensation: $150,000 - $175,000 / year
Description
As a Senior Platform Engineer at BSC Analytics, you'll be part of a high-performing squad of four to five engineers tackling complex platform challenges for large-scale, highly regulated enterprises. Our work spans cloud migrations, modernization programs, Kubernetes platforms, and DevOps transformations across both Azure and AWS - which means no two engagements look exactly alike. If you thrive on learning, moving fast, and solving real-world problems across a mix of environments - both modern and legacy - this role is for you. Every week brings new opportunities to sharpen your technical skills, collaborate with top engineers, and grow your reputation as a trusted expert. You'll work on platforms that power mission-critical systems - all within a flexible, remote-first culture that values deep expertise, autonomy, and continuous learning.
Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate closely with fellow engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to design, build, and support robust platform solutions
  • Architect, deploy, and manage Kubernetes clusters on AWS and/or Azure
  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines that deliver high-quality code at speed
  • Build automated infrastructure with Terraform and other IaC tools
  • Lead cloud migration and modernization efforts, including re-platforming legacy workloads (Java, .NET, ETL, databases) to modern cloud-native services
  • Automate scaling, deployment, and management of containerized applications
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and fine-tune system performance to ensure reliability, cost-effectiveness, and resilience
  • Implement proactive monitoring solutions that detect and prevent outages
  • Translate complex client requirements into scalable, automated solutions
  • Contribute to team knowledge-sharing, peer reviews, runbooks, and process improvement efforts
  • Support and maintain secure, compliant, and resilient infrastructure for critical systems

Skills Knowledge & Expertise
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of platform, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering experience
  • 5+ years of AWS experience
  • 3+ years with Terraform and other IaC tooling
  • 2+ years building and operating Kubernetes in production
  • Azure experience
  • Hands-on experience migrating or modernizing legacy workloads (Java, .NET, or similar) to cloud
  • Experience designing and building scalable, distributed systems
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar)
  • Experience designing and building scalable, distributed systems
  • Experience in consulting or client-facing delivery roles
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong multi-tasker, self-starter, and proactive team player
  • Cloud certifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Highly regulated industry experience (e.g. finance, healthcare)
  • AWS and Azure Professional level certifications
  • ETL or data pipeline experience (DataStage, ADF, Glue, Airflow, or similar)
  • Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKAD, CKS)
  • Agile experience

Benefits & Perks
  • Benefits of full-time remote work but with a close team environment. BSC was built from the beginning to be remote. That means we work extra hard to support a culture of engagement with regular opportunities for in-person interaction.
  • Flexible work schedule and time off
  • Home office support
  • 401k with up to 4% company match
  • Medical, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance
