JOB SUMMARY

Leads the organization's Cloud Security program by defining strategy, managing risk, and enabling secure adoption of public cloud, SaaS, cloud-native, and emerging technologies. Partners with Information Security & Risk Management (ISRM), Information Technology, Enterprise Architecture, Engineering, Application Development, Cloud Operations, and business stakeholders to align cloud security capabilities with organizational objectives. Provides leadership and oversight for cloud security architecture, engineering, and operations, including CNAPP, CSPM, CIEM, cloud identity security, DevSecOps, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) security, container and Kubernetes security, cloud monitoring, and threat detection. Develops and executes cloud security strategies, standards, roadmaps, and operational plans that support business objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. Leads secure-by-design initiatives through architecture reviews, threat modeling, security automation, and continuous compliance practices across the cloud technology lifecycle. Builds and develops high-performing cloud security teams, drives continuous improvement of security capabilities, and ensures cloud environments remain secure, resilient, and compliant. Provides executive guidance on cloud security risks, emerging threats, and strategic investments while promoting security awareness and secure cloud adoption across the Organization.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform management responsibilities including but not limited to: hiring and termination decisions; coaching and development; rewards and recognition; performance management; succession planning; staff productivity; and development of cloud security subject matter expertise.
  • Plan, organize, staff, direct, and control the day-to-day operations of the Cloud Security function; develop and implement cloud security standards, policies, procedures, and operational practices; establish service delivery objectives; and manage departmental budgets, staffing, and resource planning.
  • Provide oversight of cloud security programs and projects to ensure continuous improvement of security capabilities; collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to develop secure cloud solutions; establish cloud security strategies; ensure adherence to approved architectures, standards, and methodologies; and coordinate resources, timelines, contingency planning, and risk management activities.
  • Provide leadership for cloud security architecture, engineering, and operations including cloud platform security, workload protection, cloud identity security, Infrastructure-as-Code security, container security, Kubernetes security, cloud-native application security, and cloud threat detection capabilities.
  • Lead secure-by-design and DevSecOps initiatives by partnering with application development, engineering, and architecture teams to integrate security controls into software delivery pipelines, cloud deployments, and technology modernization efforts.
  • Conduct and oversee cloud security reviews, threat modeling activities, risk assessments, and security design consultations to ensure cloud-based systems, applications, services, and emerging technologies are implemented securely and in accordance with established standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Corporate and Information Security policies, standards, procedures, regulatory requirements, and industry frameworks including HIPAA, HITRUST, NIST, PCI DSS, and applicable cloud security control requirements.
  • Provide governance and oversight of cloud security technologies and platforms including CNAPP, CSPM, CIEM, cloud detection and response, vulnerability management, cloud logging and monitoring, cloud identity governance, and security automation capabilities.
  • Develop and report cloud security metrics, risk indicators, operational performance measures, and executive-level reporting to support informed decision-making, continuous improvement, budget planning, and risk reduction initiatives.
  • Support cloud-related security incident response, investigations, resilience planning, and recovery efforts in partnership with Security Operations, Infrastructure, and Business stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership for emerging technology security initiatives including artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, automation platforms, cloud-native technologies, and associated risk management practices.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the Organization by facilitating meetings; delivering presentations; representing ISRM with internal and external stakeholders; preparing policies, standards, reports, and correspondence; promoting awareness of cloud security threats and emerging risks; and providing oversight regarding funding, budgets, resources, and strategic initiatives.

EDUCATION

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Security, Information Systems, Information Assurance, Computer Science or related field

Substitutions

  • 6 years of relevant experience substitution for a Bachelor's Degree

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Security or related field

EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 7 - 10 years in Information Security and/or Information Risk Management and/or Information Technology
  • 5-7 years of experience designing, implementing, securing, or governing cloud technologies and services.
  • 5-7 years of experience presenting Information Security and Risk Management concepts to technical, management, and executive audiences.
  • 3-5 years of experience leading cloud security, cybersecurity, engineering, architecture, or technology teams.
  • 3-5 years of experience developing and executing strategic initiatives, operational roadmaps, and technology transformation programs.

Preferred

  • 10 - 15 years in Information Security and/or Information Risk Management and/or Information Technology
  • Experience managing an information security function using the HITRUST Common Security Framework (HITRUST CSF), or the NIST 800-83 cyber security framework
  • Experience supporting SSAE 16 or SOC 2 Security Trust Principle audits
  • Experience establishing budgets and meeting fiduciary goals
  • Security industry organization participation/leadership (HITRUST, ISACA, InfraGard, ISC2, ISSA, etc.)

Pay Range Minimum:

$129,100.00

Pay Range Maximum:

$214,500.00

Base pay is determined by a variety of factors including a candidate's qualifications, experience, and expected contributions, as well as internal peer equity, market, and business considerations.
