Job description

We are seeking a friendly, compassionate, and organized Veterinary Receptionist to join our team! As the first point of contact for clients and their pets, the receptionist plays a vital role in creating a welcoming and efficient front office experience. This position requires excellent communication skills, multitasking abilities, and a genuine love for animals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet clients and their pets warmly upon arrival and assist with check-in procedures
  • Answer multi-line phone system; schedule appointments, answer questions, and direct calls appropriately
  • Maintain accurate patient and client records using veterinary management software (e.g. Avimark)
  • Process payments and handle cash and credit card
  • Communicate with clients about upcoming appointments, reminders, and follow-ups
  • Coordinate with veterinary technicians and veterinarians to ensure smooth patient flow
  • Maintain a clean and organized front desk and waiting area
  • Handle emergency calls calmly and efficiently, following clinic protocols
  • Assist with light administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, and email correspondence

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous experience in a veterinary, medical, or customer service setting preferred
  • Proficiency with computers and experience using scheduling or veterinary software (e.g., AVImark,) is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive or emotional situations with empathy and professionalism
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking skills
