Job description

Location: Washington, D.C. (Hybrid โ€” Remote with On-Site as Required)

Company: Aertron, Inc.

Clearance Level: Suitability / Public Trust

Position Overview

Aertron, Inc. is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business specializing in aviation safety, regulatory strategy, and AI/ML integration for safety-critical systems. Aertron supports government and industry partners across aviation research, evaluation, certification, and modernization initiatives spanning the National Airspace System (NAS) and emerging Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) operations.

Aertron is seeking a Data Analyst to support aviation-related programs by transforming aviation, operational, and research data into insight that informs safety, certification, and modernization decisions. You will work across datasets ranging from airspace operations and system performance to research and evaluation data, producing analyses, visualizations, and briefing-quality products for government and technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect, clean, validate, and organize datasets from aviation programs, aviation systems, research activities, and industry sources.
  • Perform exploratory and statistical analyses to identify trends, anomalies, and operationally significant findings.
  • Develop dashboards, visualizations, and recurring reports that communicate results clearly to technical and executive audiences.
  • Support development of metrics, evaluation criteria, and data quality checks for aviation research and evaluation efforts.
  • Document data sources, methods, and assumptions to ensure analyses are traceable and defensible under government review.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, subject matter experts, and program leads to align analyses with program objectives.
  • Respond to ad hoc analytical requests from program stakeholders and support preparation of briefing materials.
Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or quantitative research.
  • Proficiency in SQL and at least one analytical language or environment (e.g., Python, R).
  • Experience with visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to document methods for external or regulatory review.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills; ability to present findings to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain government suitability/public trust.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in aviation, aerospace, or the Urban Air Mobility (UAM)/AAM industry.
  • Familiarity with aviation data sources, NAS operations, or aviation safety data (e.g., ASIAS, surveillance, weather).
  • Experience supporting federal programs or government review cycles.
