Tenneco South Bend is growing this summer and fall and we are excited to add MIG welders of various experience levels to our expanding team. If you enjoy welding and want to join an established company with excellent benefits starting on your first day of hire, we want to hear from you.
Wages are competitive and based on skill level, experience, and weld test results, allowing candidates at all levels to earn according to their abilities-with higher earning potential for advanced skills. An additional $0.50/hour shift premium is paid for second and third shifts. We are hiring for all shifts.

Job Description
General Summary
This position is responsible for performing high-quality welding of stainless steel in multiple welding positions. This role applies appropriate welding processes to meet specifications, inspects and repairs welds, and supports the production and assembly of clean-air components. Work may include confined spaces, elevated heights, and overhead crane operation. This position also supports a safe workplace and minimizes environmental impact by following all EHS policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    • Perform MIG/TIG welding on stainless steel components per engineering drawings and WPS standards
    • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions
    • Fabricate, assemble, and repair structural steel components
    • Inspect welds for quality, penetration, and compliance; repair defects as needed
    • Notify appropriate personnel of defects in a timely manner
    • Perform safety checks and preventative maintenance on equipment
    • Operate overhead cranes and lifting equipment safely
    • Weld in confined spaces and at heights, following all safety protocols
    • Train and support new welders as skill level progresses
    • Pass Tenneco weld certification testing when required
    • Weld multiple joint types (filler, lap, corner, groove, etc.)

Job Requirements
Education
    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Additional technical education preferred

Experience
    • 1+ year MIG/TIG welding experience preferred
    • Ability to pass weld certification test
    • Ability to set up welding equipment and apply WPS
    • Ability to read work instructions, drawings, and gauges
    • Ability to work in a team environment

Physical Demands
    • Lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs
    • Frequent standing, bending, reaching, and climbing
    • Ability to work at heights (8-10+ feet)
    • Ability to work in confined or awkward spaces
    • Exposure to industrial conditions (noise, fumes, heat, etc.)
    • Ability to wear PPE (respirators, harnesses, etc.)
