POSITION OVERVIEW

The Base Security Officer provides supplementary security support to enhance the overall security program. This role assists the primary security team in maintaining a safe and secure environment through vigilant observation, professional presence, and adherence to established security protocols.

The Base Security Officer performs essential security functions during peak periods, special events, or to provide coverage during staff shortages. This position requires flexibility, reliability, and the ability to quickly adapt to various security assignments while maintaining consistent service standards and professional conduct.

CORE OBJECTIVES

  1. Support the primary security team by providing additional coverage and assistance as needed to maintain comprehensive security operations.
  2. Demonstrate professionalism and vigilance in all security duties to deter potential security threats and incidents.
  3. Respond appropriately to security situations according to established protocols and procedures.
  4. Maintain thorough documentation of all security activities and incidents encountered during shifts.
  5. Uphold all security policies, post orders, and emergency response procedures.
  6. Develop and maintain knowledge of site-specific security requirements and protocols.
  7. Contribute to a positive security presence that balances safety with customer service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Security Operations Support

  • Conduct security patrols of assigned areas to maintain visibility and deter unauthorized activities.
  • Monitor access points and enforce visitor management protocols as directed.
  • Respond to security incidents according to established procedures and escalation protocols.
  • Assist with crowd management and traffic control during special events or emergency situations.

Observation & Reporting

  • Maintain vigilant observation for suspicious activities, safety hazards, or security concerns.
  • Document all security activities, incidents, and observations in daily logs and reports.
  • Communicate security information clearly to supervisors and team members.
  • Provide detailed shift handover information to ensure continuity of security operations.

Emergency Response

  • Respond to emergency situations according to established protocols and procedures.
  • Assist with evacuations, shelter-in-place, or other emergency response activities as directed.
  • Provide basic first aid or CPR if properly trained and authorized to do so.
  • Support coordination with external emergency responders when required.

Professional Conduct

  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times while on duty.
  • Interact with employees, visitors, and the public in a courteous and respectful manner.
  • Follow all company policies, security procedures, and post orders.
  • Participate in security training and professional development activities as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Security Background

  • Previous security experience preferred but not required
  • Military, law enforcement, or public safety background beneficial
  • Experience in customer service or public-facing roles
  • Understanding of basic security principles and practices

Credentials & Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Active BSIS Guard Card
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong observation skills and attention to detail
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities
  • Basic computer skills for report writing and communications
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and perform security duties in various weather conditions
