Job description

AV Technician
Monday - Friday in Hartford, CT - In-office: 8:00AM - 4:30PM
Candidate will be in office 5 days/ week 8-4:30pm

Manager's call notes:

  • Chance of extension/ conversion
  • AV event conference room support specialist
  • Work hand in hand with 2 separate groups under same team
  • executing town hall events
  • Executive level participants, managing conference room technology throughout Hartford campus
  • Microsoft Teams, Conference room technology, event execution (corporate would be nice to have)
  • Audio and Video capabilities (yamaha audio systems, wirecast, microsoft teams, cysco webex)
  • Reporting to David Cicero
  • Some days will be mostly dealing with events some will be with conference room technology
  • Incidents can include: basic troubleshooting (Microphone needs to be retuned, camera is not working) but most of it is preparation prior to the meetings to make sure things don't happen
  • Someone who is calm under pressure and gets us well prepared for these events/ meetings

Key Responsibilities:

  • Event Setup & Operation: o Configure and operate audio, video, and lighting systems for corporate events, town halls, and executive meetings. o Ensure proper signal flow and connectivity across AV components. o Provide technical expertise for Microsoft Teams and WebEx platforms o Troubleshoot platform issues during live sessions.
  • Conference Room Technology Support o Perform necessary health checks on integrated conference room systems o Troubleshoot issues with technology as they arise in a professional and efficient manner o Perform upgrades and installation of technology within the environment.
  • Collaboration & Communication: o Partner with event organizers, IT teams, and external vendors to align technical requirements. o Offer real-time support and problem resolution during events.
  • Equipment Management: o Maintain AV inventory and ensure equipment readiness. o Perform routine maintenance and escalate repair needs promptly.

Required Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with audio systems (microphones, mixers, amplifiers), video systems (cameras, switchers, projectors), and lighting systems (fixtures, control boards).
  • Familiarity with Poly conferencing systems and AV signal flow.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with streaming platforms and hybrid event technologies.
  • Knowledge of AV control systems and networking basics.
  • CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) or equivalent certification.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and transport AV equipment (up to 50 lbs).
