What is an AV project manager?

AV Project Managers are professionals who oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of audio-visual (AV) projects, such as installing conference room systems, event AV setups, or building-wide AV integrations. They serve as the main point of contact between clients, vendors, and installation teams, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to specified requirements. Their responsibilities often include project scheduling, resource allocation, troubleshooting, and quality assurance. AV Project Managers need strong technical knowledge of AV systems as well as excellent organizational and communication skills.

What are common challenges an AV project manager faces during audio-visual installation projects?

AV Project Managers often navigate challenges such as coordinating schedules between multiple stakeholders, ensuring timely delivery of equipment, and adapting to on-site changes or technical issues. They must manage diverse teams, including installers, engineers, and vendors, while keeping projects within budget and on schedule. Clear communication and proactive problem-solving are essential, as unexpected obstacles like last-minute client requests or integration issues with existing systems frequently arise.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an AV project manager, and why are they important?

Job description

Pay: $24.00 - $29.00 per hour
Job description:
We’re looking for a Low Voltage Pro to join our team. This isn’t a helper role—we need someone who already knows the ropes and can take a project from rough-in to finish with minimal oversight. If you’re the kind of tech who takes pride in tight installs, clean racks, and zero call-backs, we want to talk to you.
What You’ll Do
  • Install, terminate, and test low voltage systems: data cabling (Cat5e/6/6a), fiber optic, AV, security, access control, CCTV, and related infrastructure.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and wiring diagrams.
  • Execute structured cabling projects—new builds, remodels, and service work.
  • Rack, stack, and dress cabling/equipment to a professional standard.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues quickly and effectively.
  • Work independently and lead small crews when needed.
  • Deliver jobs on time and to spec.
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience (5+ years preferred) in low voltage installation—structured cabling, security, or AV systems.
  • Solid understanding of EIA/TIA cabling standards and best practices.
  • Comfortable using test equipment, punch-down tools, fiber termination gear, etc.
  • OSHA 10/30, BICSI, or manufacturer certifications a plus (but not required if experience is strong).
  • Must have reliable transportation, basic hand tools, and a clean professional appearance.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and pride in craftsmanship.
Why Join Us
  • Competitive pay (based on experience and skill).
  • Opportunities for growth into lead technician or project management roles.
  • Work with a team that values professionalism and quality over cutting corners.
Job Type: Full-time
Benefits:
  • Fuel Card
  • Paid Time Off
  • Paid Sick Leave
  • Professional Development Assistance
  • Tools Provided
Work Location: In Person, On Jobsite
