Job Title: AV / VTC Engineer – Unified Communications (UC) Engineer

Position Overview

Interagency C5I (iC5I) is seeking a highly skilled AV / VTC Engineer – Unified Communications (UC) Engineer to support mission-critical communications for U.S. Government operations across the EUCOM and AFRICOM Areas of Responsibility. This role designs, implements, operates, and maintains secure, resilient, and highly available audio-visual, video teleconferencing, and unified communications systems integrating voice, video, data, and collaboration services across enterprise, classified, and coalition environments.

The position supports senior leaders and distributed operational users in demanding overseas environments, including providing command-level technical briefings, and requires both deep technical expertise and the ability to perform in high-tempo mission settings.

Key Responsibilities

Unified Communications, AV, and VTC Engineering

  • Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise AV, VTC, and UC solutions integrating IP telephony, video conferencing, collaboration platforms, and messaging.

  • Implement, configure, and administer Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), video endpoints, conference room systems, and collaboration tools (e.g., Jabber, IP phones, cameras, codecs, gateways).

  • Ensure secure, reliable voice and video services across unclassified, secret, and coalition networks.

IT Infrastructure & System Administration

  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve IT infrastructure issues involving servers, storage, networks, security systems, and end-user devices.

  • Provide system administration for assigned infrastructure, including account management, access control, and security configuration.

  • Apply security patches, firmware updates, and operating system upgrades to maintain system integrity and compliance.

  • Maintain availability, performance, and recoverability of UC and supporting infrastructure.

Monitoring & Troubleshooting

  • Monitor call quality, video performance, system health, and service availability.

  • Perform root-cause analysis using packet captures, system logs, and diagnostic tools.

  • Resolve Tier II–III issues affecting voice, video, network connectivity, servers, and AV systems.

Cybersecurity & Compliance

  • Ensure UC and AV systems comply with DoD cybersecurity, STIG, and RMF requirements.

  • Implement security baselines, support vulnerability remediation, and manage secure access controls.

Project & Integration Support

  • Support new UC, AV, and infrastructure deployments, upgrades, and technology refreshes.

  • Integrate UC platforms with directory services, networks, and cybersecurity tools.

  • Coordinate with vendors, DISA, and internal IT teams.

Documentation & Configuration Management

  • Maintain configuration baselines, network diagrams, asset inventories, and change records.

  • Ensure all UC and AV components are fully documented and audit-ready.

Executive & Mission Support

  • Provide high-visibility support for senior leaders, VTCs, and mission-critical briefings.

  • Deliver command-level technical briefings and operational guidance as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI clearance

  • Certifications

  • CCNA or CCNP Collaboration

  • Security+ or SecurityX (CASP)

  • Experience

  • Minimum 5 years supporting Unified Communications, AV/VTC, or enterprise IT environments

  • Technical proficiency with Cisco UC technologies including CUCM, Jabber, IP phones, voice gateways, and video conferencing platforms

  • OCONUS / Overseas experience

  • Experience supporting executive-level and high-availability environments

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong networking knowledge (routing, switching, QoS, VoIP traffic engineering)

  • Advanced troubleshooting using tools such as Wireshark and system traces

  • Experience with servers, virtualization, storage, and secure networks

  • Project management experience for UC or AV deployments

  • Familiarity with DISA, AFRICOM, or EUCOM environments

  • Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity, RMF, and STIG compliance

  • Familiarity with the Technical Expert Status Accreditation (TESA) process
