Lead Automotive Technician / Shop Foreman - Diagnostic Specialist
Location: Orange, CA
Employment Type: Full-Time

We are seeking an experienced Lead Automotive Technician / Shop Foreman to join our high-performing automotive repair team. This position is ideal for a technician who excels in advanced diagnostics, leadership, efficiency, and repair quality while helping guide and support the rest of the shop.
The ideal candidate is highly skilled in electrical diagnostics, drivability concerns, alignments, air conditioning systems, engine performance, and complete vehicle repair and can confidently lead daily shop operations while maintaining productivity and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced vehicle diagnostics and accurately identify root causes of mechanical and electrical failures
  • Lead and support technicians with difficult diagnostic and repair procedures
  • Serve as the primary technical resource for the shop
  • Assign and manage workflow to maximize technician efficiency and shop production
  • Verify repair quality and perform final inspections when necessary
  • Diagnose and repair:
    • Engine performance and drivability concerns
    • Electrical systems and CAN network diagnostics
    • A/C and climate control systems
    • Steering, suspension, and alignment systems
    • Brake systems and ABS diagnostics
    • Transmission and driveline concerns
    • Cooling systems
    • Starting, charging, and battery systems
    • Hybrid and modern vehicle systems (preferred)
  • Utilize scan tools, oscilloscopes, service information systems, and testing equipment
  • Develop repair plans and communicate recommendations clearly
  • Ensure repairs meet manufacturer standards and shop quality expectations
  • Assist with training and mentoring technicians
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Work closely with service advisors to support customer communication and approvals

Required Qualifications
  • ASE Certifications required (Master Technician preferred)
  • 5-10+ years of automotive repair experience
  • Proven experience as a Lead Technician, Diagnostic Technician, Shop Foreman, or Master Technician
  • Strong diagnostic ability with minimal parts guessing
  • Advanced electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Proficiency using OEM and aftermarket scan tools
  • Experience performing wheel alignments and interpreting alignment data
  • Strong A/C diagnosis and repair knowledge
  • Comfortable with all aspects of bumper-to-bumper automotive repair
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Ability to manage multiple jobs while maintaining quality

Preferred Skills
  • ASE Master Certification
  • Advanced drivability and electrical certifications
  • Experience with shop management systems
  • Experience coaching and developing technicians
  • Strong understanding of labor times and workflow management
