Who we are:

The Gill Corporation is one of the world's largest manufacturers of honeycomb, high performance floor panels, cargo compartment liners and original equipment for passenger and freighter aircraft. The company also excels in many other types of reinforced plastics including interior sandwich panels for creating structures such as aircraft galleys and bulkheads, honeycomb core and related products.

The Gill Corporation is seeking a R&D Manager who is directly responsible for the activities of a laboratory task group and provides the necessary resources and guidance to accomplish product/process development goals and priorities established by the company.

Reporting to the Director of R&D, the Manager will perform but not be limited to the following responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Project planning including:  resource allocation, equipment, and personnel.
  • Development of new resin formulations/products.
  • Define preliminary operating procedures, parameters for safe efficient scale up and transfer of new products and new technology to production.
  • Improve existing products and processes.
  • Qualify new/existing products to new/existing specifications.
  • Provides technical assistance to Sales/Marketing Department.
  • Development of personnel resources, consistent with strategic plans, allocation of these resources to achieve objectives on time.
  • Makes recommendations for the improvement of manufacturing efficiencies, product quality, laboratory practices, and safety issues.
  • Provide customer technical service.
  • Write comprehensive close-out reports on sales requests/projects, qualification test, reports, and product instruction and repair manuals.
  • Maintain contact and familiarity with external vendors to remain current with new technology.
  • Write RMS, GPS, GMS, PCD, GTP, GOS, GWI specifications.
  • Direct supervision of hourly and salaried employees.
  • Other essential duties may be assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or a related technical discipline required; Master's degree or other advanced degree preferred. Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry or a related field is a plus.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in research and development, including product and process development in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience with a proven ability to manage, coach, and develop technical teams.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across cross-functional teams and present technical information to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
