Position Summary:
Reporting to the Manager of Quality Control & Aircraft Records, the Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all maintenance performed on Company aircraft, engines, appliances and accessories is accomplished in accordance with Atlas Air policies and the Federal Aviation Regulations to maintain a continuous state of airworthiness. Inspectors must hold a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics License and be authorized by the Chief Inspector.
Major Job Accountabilities:
  • Oversee the maintenance of aircraft to ensure that all required inspection items are satisfactorily inspected and that all procedures, standards, and limits comply with FAA regulations and Company policies
  • Complete aircraft inspections, in accordance with maintenance program specifications, procedures and criteria to ensure they are maintained in an airworthy condition
  • Perform re-inspections (Buy-Back) of corrected discrepancies
  • Perform required inspections on "RII" items
  • Assist in review of aircraft maintenance records
  • Recommend changes or additions to maintenance procedures. As required review and update company manuals including, but not limited to: General Maintenance Manual (GMM), RVSM, ETOPS, LLM and aircraft servicing manuals
  • Perform receiving inspections of newly purchased, repaired, overhauled parts or continued service components and hardware to ensure proper documentation from approved vendors, absence of shipping damage, proper packaging, protection, and airworthiness certification
  • Monitor and inspect maintenance performed on Company aircraft by outside vendors. Verify the quality of work, review flight log for statement of work accomplished and authorize maintenance releases as necessary
  • During Heavy Check, audit all routine, non-routine and engineering documentation to ensure completeness, and that the mechanics/inspectors are trained and qualified, and all RII items are identified and inspected by RII qualified and authorized inspectors
  • During Heavy Check, monitor maintenance being performed on the aircraft to ensure that Company processes and procedures are adhered to, including coordination with the MRO supervision to ensure mechanics/inspectors performing the maintenance understand the technical data and carry out the instructions accordingly
  • Review completed production control work packages for completeness and proper signoff, prior to execution of an airworthiness release or issuance of a serviceable tag
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent educational experience
  • Current, active, and valid FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings
  • Seven (7) to ten (10) years of aircraft maintenance experience, of which three (3) years must be in an inspection department or held RII authorization
  • Familiarity with Federal Aviation Regulations, aircraft manufacture specifications and manuals
  • 5 years of aircraft maintenance experience on Boeing series aircraft

Special Demands:
  • Able to work rotating schedules to include weekends, nights and holidays
  • Valid Driver License and US or country of origin Passport
  • Able to travel internationally for periods of 30 days

Skills:
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and organizational skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft software and in use of digital manuals

Competitive compensation will be offered based on a variety of factors, including a candidate's experience, skills, education, geographic location, internal equity and other factors.
