Job description

We're seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Quality Control team!
The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for monitoring and ensuring the quality and safety of products throughout the production process. This includes conducting inspections, verifications, evaluations, and reporting to uphold food safety standards and product integrity. The role requires clear communication across shifts and departments, adherence to company policies, and participation in ongoing training. This position reports to the Quality Control Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • At shift exchange, communicate with incoming employees all details, including finished and unfinished work, any problems that happened, any safety issues, or any other relevant or helpful information.
  • Perform security checks as assigned.
  • Perform freezer and refrigerator verifications.
  • Perform department equipment verifications of the infrared temperature guns.
  • Complete various department and process related evaluations and verifications for both quality and food safety, for example;
  • Pre- Op checks
  • Product AQL's
  • R&D as requested
  • In process labels
  • Perform sanitation inspections and report findings.
  • Collect product samples for retention purposes and maintain product retention archive.
  • Assign Packaging Lot Numbers and Best By dates as needed.
  • Receive WIP product samples to be sent for third party testing.
  • Verify in process CCP's (metal detection and pasteurization).
  • Be knowledgeable in department SOP's and capable of performing duties as assigned between the Packaging and Feed Production areas.
  • Interface with department leaders/ managers and aid in problem solving.
  • Work safely by following all safety standards and procedures.
  • Be capable of performing some of your manager's responsibilities through training as assigned.
  • Report daily activities by Teams shift chat.
  • Maintain an organized, clean work area.
  • Know general company, handbook policies and be willing to follow them.
  • Complete monthly QA/QC training and other training as required by PetIQ.
  • Maintains a positive attitude, excellent communication and relationships with other employees to foster team cohesion.
  • Additional duties may be assigned and/or required

Physical requirements:
  • Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

  • Must be self-motivated and able to work under pressure and pay attention to detail.
  • Must be able to communicate professionally and work with the entire PetIQ Manufacturing team for the success of the company
  • Ability to work as part of a team and maintain a positive attitude
  • Ability to adhere to schedule work hours
  • Maintain proper hygiene
  • Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written directions in English

Education Requirements:
  • High School Graduate or GED Equivalent
