What is an Automotive Data Scientist?

An Automotive Data Scientist is a professional who uses data analysis, machine learning, and statistical methods to solve problems and optimize processes within the automotive industry. They analyze large sets of data collected from vehicles, manufacturing processes, or consumer behavior to improve vehicle performance, safety, and efficiency. Their work often involves developing predictive models for maintenance, enhancing autonomous driving systems, and supporting decision-making for product development. Automotive Data Scientists collaborate with engineers, software developers, and business teams to turn data insights into actionable improvements.

How does an Automotive Data Scientist typically collaborate with engineers and product teams?

Automotive Data Scientists frequently work alongside engineers and product teams to translate complex vehicle data into actionable insights. Collaboration often involves regular meetings to discuss project goals, sharing analyses that can inform design or manufacturing improvements, and developing data-driven solutions for issues such as predictive maintenance or autonomous vehicle algorithms. Why this role is cool

Most people see cars as transportation. We see them as data.

Every vehicle has a story: year, make, model, mileage, condition, options, location, and market demand. Black Book helps turn vehicle information and market activity into insights used by lenders, dealerships, manufacturers, technology companies, and other automotive professionals.

Translation: students will see how STEM skills actually get used outside the classroom. No mystery worksheet energy here.
