Berlin City Auto Group

Portland, ME

Full-time

Job description

Are you a motivated sales professional who wants greater control over your earning potential and the opportunity to develop advanced automotive sales skills? Berlin City Lexus is seeking a driven, customer-focused Sales Associate to join our growing team in Portland, Maine.

This is more than a traditional automotive sales position. Our Sales Associates learn how to appraise vehicles, structure and quote their own deals, and understand automotive financing. You will have more involvement in the complete sales process while representing a respected luxury automotive brand.

Compensation and Earning Potential:

This position offers a performance-based commission-based pay plan with income potential of up to $180,000 annually. Actual earnings vary based on individual performance, sales volume, and other eligible compensation opportunities.

Sales Associates can earn compensation through:

  • New and pre-owned vehicle sales
  • A percentage of eligible finance and insurance product sales
  • A percentage of eligible accessory sales
  • Purchasing vehicles that help expand our pre-owned inventory
  • Volume-based bonuses
  • An annual end-of-year bonus based on the total number of vehicles sold during the year

Our volume-based pay plan rewards continued performance. As you sell more vehicles, you become eligible for additional bonuses, and your commission percentage increases retroactively for each eligible unit sold during the applicable pay period.

What We Offer:
  • Multiple ways to earn beyond the sale of a vehicle
  • Hands-on training in vehicle appraisals, deal quoting, and automotive financing
  • Greater control and involvement throughout the sales process
  • Comprehensive training, ongoing mentorship, and career-development opportunities
  • Recognition programs that reward excellence and high performance
  • Collaborative, team-oriented work environment
  • Shorter scheduled workdays—typically one to two hours less per day than many traditional dealerships
  • Sundays off, plus one additional day off during the week
  • Monday–Friday hours of 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. and Saturday hours of 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
  • Paid time off accruing from your first day of employment
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance
  • 401(k) with employer contribution
  • Paid maternity and paternity leave
  • Health and wellness reimbursement of up to $75 per month
  • Employee vehicle discounts and leasing allowance
  • Pet insurance
  • Supportive and engaging team culture
Position Overview:

As a Sales Associate at Berlin City Lexus, you will guide customers through a personalized, consultative, and enjoyable vehicle-buying experience. You will take the time to understand each customer's needs, provide expert product knowledge, and build lasting relationships based on trust and exceptional service.

Unlike many traditional automotive sales roles, this position gives you the training and ability to participate in more of the transaction. You will learn how to evaluate trade-ins, appraise vehicles, quote your own deals, and understand financing options. This added knowledge gives you greater control over the customer experience and creates additional opportunities to grow your career and income. You will also respond to sales inquiries, develop new business, cultivate referrals, and identify opportunities to purchase vehicles for our pre-owned inventory.

What You'll Do:
  • Create an exceptional and personalized experience for every customer
  • Build trust by listening carefully and recommending vehicles that fit each customer's needs and lifestyle
  • Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries by phone, email, and text
  • Conduct vehicle demonstrations and clearly explain model features, technology, and benefits
  • Learn how to appraise trade-ins and vehicles offered for sale
  • Structure and quote vehicle deals with increasing independence
  • Develop a strong understanding of automotive financing and protection products
  • Identify and purchase vehicles that support the dealership's pre-owned inventory needs
  • Generate new business through prospecting, referrals, and relationship-building
  • Maintain ongoing communication with customers before, during, and after the sale
  • Discuss purchasing and leasing options in a friendly, professional, and transparent manner
  • Complete Lexus and dealership training to maintain expert-level product knowledge
  • Consistently meet sales, customer satisfaction, and follow-up expectations
  • Collaborate with teammates to ensure a seamless customer experience
What We're Looking For:
  • At least two years of sales or customer service experience preferred
  • A polished, professional, and customer-focused approach
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and follow-up skills
  • A responsive, self-motivated, and goal-oriented mindset
  • Interest in learning the complete automotive sales and financing process
  • Ability to learn detailed product information and explain it with confidence
  • Strong commitment to delivering an elevated customer experience
  • Team-oriented attitude and willingness to contribute to a positive workplace
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment
  • Automotive or luxury retail experience is helpful but not required
Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Valid driver's license and a favorable motor vehicle record
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment background check
  • Authorization to work in the United States
